Failing anything better, you can use the Vegas Noise Generator – Starry Sky.
Change the start colour to white and use pan crop to move from bottom to top of frame, so that the snow “falls”.
Experiment with speed/duration and other settings.

I don’t know the answer, but my way around this is that I hardly ever use pre-renders.
If I need to see a portion at full frame rate I use Shift B for RAM render – it’s faster than prerendering – then move on. Any rendering before output can be done in one go later.Peter Wright

It’s normal to instal Vegas, and all programs, on C drive, but in exceptional circumstances I guess it could be installed elsewhere.
It’s also a good idea not to capture video clips to the system drive, whether this is C or another drive.

Another way – use underscore _________ in the text generator. This way, you can change colour or thickness, add shadow or outline, or rotate with pan crop.

I sympathise with your experience, but to be honest you have been mis-understanding the term safe area.
It has never been intended as a place to hide things you don’t want people to see. It is a place where it would be unwise to place important visual information that you want everyone to see. TV design has always been a variable so we never had control of what sets would be used, so by keeping the important stuff inside the area we knew that everyone would see it.
Nowadays quite a bit of viewing is done where the whole frame is visible, but that needn’t be a problem, more a bonus …
The reason title safe area is inside view safe area is to prevent captions from going right to the very edge of what may be visible to some.

These avis are usually mpjeg – you need to import a codec such as morgan-multimedia to have vegas open it.

Here’s how it works in Vegas 6.
When you hit Ctrl Alt D, you then press a number above the alphabetical keyboard, from 1 to 0. This will allocate the desktop layout you are currently using to that number. Anytime you want to recall that layout, you would hit Alt D and the number.
So, nothing will visibly happen when you do Ctrl Alt D – Vegas is waiting for a number.
The only time you will see something happen is when you press Alt D and a different number – that will recall a different layout, if this had previously been saved.
Of course, this may not happen at all with the Studio version …..

Good point Grazie – I’m a bit vague on these screen record/overlay matters – but as you say, videoing preferably an LCD screen to avoid flickers could yield good results.

A possible way is to use media player to play the audio – MP has a range of different bars, wavy lines etc which respond to the audio. With a screen recorder such as Camtasia, this couls be recorded and added to the timeline.
