Yeah, I’m just trying to open an actual EDL and then recapture from the footage from there. Not familiar with the “EDL tool” however. I do have EDL Manager that came with MC, but have had limited if any success with it in the past. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you for the information. It’s almost impossible to find answers on Avid’s support website. Many thanks.

November 9, 2008 at 5:46 pm in reply to: procedure for backing up non tape madia

I use consolidate for my backups, whether it be tape or any other files. I use removeable SATA drives, and now dedicate those drives to a project. When consolidating, I make sure that only that removeable drive is targeted. I create a consolidation bin and put clips, sequences, etc in that bin that I want to keep, then direct Avid to link to the new media. Don’t forget to save the final project folder on that drive, too. Once done, I delete everything else within Media Tool. When I need the project again, I insert that removeable drive and start my work from the Consolidation Bin only. It works great for me. Good luck.

August 21, 2007 at 3:05 pm in reply to: Capture from DVCPro50 problem

Yeah, good point. Using FCP 5.1 on a Dual 2.7 GHz G5, OS 10.4.6. Capture is via firewire playing DVC Pro 50 on a Panasonic SD93. Footage is 16×9, and I’m set up with the correct settings for A/V anamorphic, and getting machine control and video through the Capture monitor. Once I start capturing, the large screen shows media being capture, and turns the small capture frame to bars. Somehow, I don’t think that’s right. Then, FCP says it can’t read the media just captured. I’ve now tried it on two systems, so I know I’m doing something dumb. Thanks for any help you can give!
