This sounds like an installation issue – you might want to uninstall and then reinstall the Avid FX software. If after doing so you still do not see the BCC filters then you should place a call into our support group and one of our wonderful and highly knowledgable support gurus will be happy to assist. Hi,

The crash might be related to the systems video card / driver configuration as the effects that you mention are all OpenGL GPU filters, which render directly on the card and not the CPU.

I’d suggest calling into our support department to see if one of our resident gurus can assist you with stabilizing these filters on your system.

That is correct.

So we have RED 5 as the top tier with everything, including about 200 VFX filters from BCC and FEC – Graffiti 6 is a subset of RED 5 and FX 10 is a subset of RED 5.

Boris RED 5 is the current release version of our custom UI plugins, along with Graffiti 6 and FX 10. Graffiti and FX are both a subset of RED and neither of these products have anything that is not already included with RED 5.

If you don’t have RED 5 for Premiere Pro then you might want to call in or send a message along to our internal sales group to inquire about getting a license for that host.

Hi John,

Each camera is unique to the container that it is controlling. So to use multiple camera angles, try this:

• duplicate the container.
• drag the start / end points of each of the containers only (not the contents) so that the don’t overlap in the timeline
• go to one of the containers, select the camera tab and then set up the camera position / move
• go to the other container, select the camera tab and set up the camera position / move for this one

Now as you move through the timeline, because each camera will only render between it’s start and end points, you will have multiple camera angles of the same 3D objects.

Hi Rick,

So the render times that I quoted to you were from a system that I use in my office. The system specs are as follows:

ZT Systems box
Intel Core i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07 Ghz
12 Gb of RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
500 Gb internal system / apps drive
1.5 Tb internal storage drive
Nvidia Quadro 4000 graphics card

This machine is really fast yet not that expensive. And this system is a few years old now so I imagine that if you were to get the latest version of a system like this then you would be very happy with the performance. When speccing out your new system, you might want to get as much RAM as you can afford or as much as the box can take – more memory makes everything run faster.

In addition to that, you might want to consider using the L button to select the preset that you want instead of using the up / down arrows to sift through all of the presets. I find that in Premiere Pro, this yields a more immediate result – there is a pause when you click on the up / down arrow. I’ll ask engineering to see if there is anything that can be done to reduce or eliminate the pause but in the meantime, I suggest using the L button.

Hey Carlos,

Funny … my first thought was that you might use UpRez so that you could take advantage of the Magic Sharp algorithm but I thought you might have an easier time with the Unsharp Mask filter, which is why I mentioned it.

I’d suggest giving BCC UpRez a shot and see how that goes – it may be that the end result will indeed be better if you choose that route but it’s hard to tell without seeing the image. PLease keep in mind that this is of course a subjective thing and some images will naturally lend themselves to a more pleasing result with one method over the other.

Hi,

I would suggest using the BCC Unsharp Mask filter. You may have to experiment with the filter parameter settings to enhance the result of the zoom without over sharpening but this filter should really improve the image transform result.
