Hi Theo,

The first thing that I would suggest is that you make sure that you have saved the file in Illustrator 8 format and that you are not using any special Pantone colors – only RGB and CMYK colors are supported.

Also, if there is a bounding box surrounding the artwork then you might have to delete that as the filter will attempt to extrude any path that it can find.

Compound paths should work.

Hi Paul,

The PSD file that you are shattering is smaller than the composition in which is is being used. The filter cannot extend beyond the bounds of the image / clip to which it has been applied, which is why it appears to be cut off. The way around this is to precompose the psd layer to make it the same size as the composition, and then add the filter to the precomposed layer.

You can set the shatter in the filter to use manual time instead of automatically shattering the effect and manually animate the shatter effect with keyframes. If you do this, then you will be able to set the shatter particles to remain on-screen.

Hi Michael,

In order to transfer MXF media files, you will indeed have to have Calibrated installed on the system where you are importing the exported AAF file(s). There is really only one thing that you need to do in order for this to work, which is after you have installed Calibrated software and have restarted your system, you need to navigate to the directory containing the MXF files, then select one of them and open it with Quicktime. You need only perform this action once after you have installed the Calibrated software.

Other than that, as long as you have followed the export / import procedure that is listed in the help files then you should be able to continue to edit the MXF media inside of FCP.

Hi David,

I’d suggest using the following method:

• Set the View pop-up to Output, click on the color picker and select a mid-range color from the sky
• Set the View pop-up to Matte and use the Color Range, Blend, Choke and Blur parameters to fine-tune the matte so that you are isolating only the colors that you want to affect with the color correction
• Set the View pop-up back to Output and adjust the colors

You can also use the PixelChooser matte / mask system that is built-into the filter to further isolate the color correction.

Hi Mark,

The BCC “Units” installer installs all of the filters from the full product – each Units unlock number will unlock select filter(s) from the full package.

The serials that you received will enable the software to be installed onto your system – they do not unlock any of the filters but are simply as way for the installer program to continue. Once you are able to install the software, you will hav 15 days to use it without an unlock code.

I’d like to suggest that you get in touch with our support team with regard to getting a serial that will enable you to install the software on your system. You can reach them directly via email at support@borisfx.com. You should also cc sales@borisfx.com on your message.

Hi Peter,

Very strange – and the first time that I’ve ever heard of this problem. Is it a situation that you can reproduce on demand? I’m assuming that other applications that can span two monitors are not causing the same problem to appear … is that true?

And of course, I have to ask … are you up to date with all of your software, such as RED 4.3 etc?
