December 28, 2011 at 1:22 pm in reply to: BCC7 Extruded EPS / Vegas 11: problem displaying epsThis might be the difference between the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions of BCC and how that filter handles Illustrator files.
You might want to open the file in Illustrator, make sure that the inner and outer outlines of the letter are a compound path and finally resave it as Illustrator version 8.
Then try extruding the new file.

Peter.

Well Media 100 is a 32 bit host so if you are both plugged into that system then you are both using the 32 bit version of Boris RED.
You’re sure that you are both using RED 5, right? If this is the case then I can only suggest that you get in touch with our support group as it may be a problem that they have encountered before and if so then they will have a solution for you.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi Martin,

December 28, 2011 at 1:13 pm in reply to: Thinking of buying Boris FX Chroma Key for Sony Vegas Pro 10 or 11Hi Lee,
The BCC 7 filters for Sony Vegas Pro, including the Chroma Key, are stable and production worthy. I’m not sure why your system is crashing but it may be something that we can help you with. Please call into our support group – someone there will help you with this. You can reach them via email at support@borisfx.com.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hey Guys,
Seems as though you already have the full BCC package and with that you have nothing to gain by installing the Materials Unit. I’d suggest that you back out the Materials Unit, using the uninstaller, then reinstall BCC 7.
If you still have trouble then please feel free to place a call into the support dept and someone there will step you through restoring the system.
Cheers,
Peter.

December 28, 2011 at 1:08 pm in reply to: end-of-year gift, one of our popular Continuum Units, the Materials UnitThe Materials Unit is really only a useful item for those that do not already own BCC. If you already have BCC then you already have all of the filters that are included in the Materials Unit.

Peter.

Hi,
From your description, it sounds like RED is having trouble writing the library browser thumbnails to the drive. This might be a permissions issue. The best course of action might be to have one of our support guys help you with this. You can contact them via email at support@borisfx.com.
Cheers,
Peter.

December 22, 2011 at 3:49 pm in reply to: In Boris Continuum for AfterEffects, can I use scripting (jsx) or expressions to set text source for the 3D text filters? As far as I am aware, these filters require direct manual keyboard text input via the text generator window and cannot be scripted or automated.
Good idea though – I’ll add it to the feature request list.
Thanks,
Peter.

Hi Matt,
I’d like to check out one of these files on the systems in our labs to see if we can understand where the problem is. If we can reproduce it here then there’s a greater chance that we can understand what the underlying cause of the problem might be. And in order to fix it, we need to understand what the root of the problem is.
So … if possible, could you please send me a few frames from a clip that does not work for you? You can send that to me via yousendit ftp – my address is peterm@borisfx.com.
Cheers,
Peter.
