This sounds very unusual … is the UI update issue that you are seeing only apparent when using the Boris Title 3D product? Perhaps something else changed on the system which may be the root cause of the symptoms that you are reporting as it seems very odd to me that the system would exhibit this type of behavior by changing only the size of the project. Would you be open to working with one of our support guys to see if they can help you figure this out?

Hi,

If you have our Transfer product (Boris Transfer AE) installed then you can transfer the project from MC 5.5 into After Effects and the BCC 7 filters should appear as expected and remain fully editable.

You can then render the sequence in AE to finish the project.

BCC 8 is available for Avid MC 6 and will also read the BCC 7 effects that you have in your timeline … just another option that I thought I’d mention.

I haven’t seen this problem on any of the systems that we have here in our labs.

Unlike AE, the color spheres do not appear as visible objects when you first apply the filter. To make them visible, you need to first twirl open the group that contains them. There are two sets of color spheres, which are used to correct the inside and outside mask regions. If you twirl open the group that is labelled “Inside Lift/Gamma/Gain” the color spheres should appear and operate as expected.

If this is not working for you, I’d like to suggest that you get in touch with someone in our support department who can assist you in troubleshooting your system to discover why you are not seeing the color spheres. You can reach them at support@borisfx.com.

Actually the update for BCC AVX 8 (BCC AVX 8.0.2) with the Lens Flare 3D and the Stagelight filters is now live on our website so please feel free to grab it and install.

I totally hear what you are saying regarding the scopes and RED – it would indeed be a good combo and I’m sure that it will happen, it’s just a matter of time. The 64 bit AVX version of RED is in the works and will be available sooner rather than later but I can’t say exactly when that sooner will be. 🙂

Are ether any filters in particular from Digieffects that you need to use in RED to achieve a certain look or effect? I ask just to see if there might be a filter in RED 5 that can handle that task for you.

Let’s not forget that BCC AVX 8 also includes the new BCC Film Glow filter – definitely a big improvement on the previous BCC Glow filter that was included with BCC 7. And we have the new easier to use filter categories, which should speed your workflow and save you time.

We expect to have available very shortly a free update for BCC 8 AVX users that will include the BCC Lens Flare 3D and the BCC Stage Light filters. The other filters that you listed are in the pipeline and should make their debut as an AVX product soon, again, as a free update for existing users.
