Hi,

I just opened the same TV Snow transition effect from the Library Browser and have discovered the culprit – it’s the nested (and obsolete) Luma Pixel Noise filter. If you replace this with BCC Spray Paint Noise the effect should work. You need to replace the filter in each of the three tracks that is in the effect.

The answer to this is yes, you can indeed do that.

There is a row of three buttons just beneath the main image in the library browser – one colored blue with a red stripe, one colored solid red, and one that looks like a trash can.

The button that is colored blue with a red stripe and a plus sign will insert the tracks from the selected composition in the library browser into the current project composition, maintaining all of the original tracks.

The button that is colored red with a plus sign will close the current project and open a new one with the composition from the library browser.

Clicking on the button with the trash can will delete the project from the library browser.

Hi Kieran,

The reason that the Delirium filters do not show up in the 4.1 installer on the Mac is that the filters were not ported over by Digieffects to work with the MacIntel processor, while RED was ported over to work with that chipset. This makes the Delirium filters incompatible with RED on the Mac.

We left the Delirium Docs in there because the Delirium filters actually still function in the Windows environment and are installed into RED 4.1 on that platform.

Hello,

I believe you are referring to a DVD that used older versions of the BorisFX software. We used to offer an install option for After Effects, but didn’t offer that as an option in the current product installer. If you want to, you can select the 844 / X target in the product installer and then navigate to the After Effects plug-ins folder, which will install the right filters in the right place for them to show up in After Effects. Please be aware though that this is not a fully supported configuration and works in the Windows version of After Effects only.

We’ll take a look at this to see if we can understand the root cause of the double plug-in issue. It may be that because CS3 was not a released product at the time that we released FX 9 that there is some slight incompatibility between the applications but we won’t know fully until we take a look at this in our labs. It is working for you though – right?

While we did not include any of the OpenGL based effects with the current version of RED (and the Lens Flare is one of these effects) we might be able to include them in a future version of the RED product.

The reason that these filters were not included in RED is due mostly to an OpenGL conflict when using the filter within RED in particular host environments. You can probably use the Lens Flare effect from BCC in RED but this will only work when using the RED product in standalone mode. If we can resolve the host conflicts that prevented the filters from operating as expected in all hosts then we can offer the OpenGL filters in RED. Meanwhile, the BCC Lens Flare can be used as a native filter in most any host.

Hi,

Unfortunately there is not much that we can do to help – there is only so much space available for text in the UI and if the font size is increased then there is less space available for characters describing the parameter and they become truncated.

One thing you might want to try is instead of changing the font size, you can change the resolution of the display, say going from 1280 to 1024 and see if this helps. This way I don’t think the text description would become truncated. You may want to use at minimum a 21 inch wide monitor if you do this.

This effect is achieved by adding the tracks that you want to pan into a 3D container and offsetting the clips so that they are touching only along the edges. Then you set the camera to pan mode and animate the camera along the X or Y axis so that the camera pans across the images in succession.

Alternately, you might want to drop the image clips into a title container and select the shuffle mode, which will automatically shuffle the clips over the length of the composition.
