Another way to bring the video into the texture track is to nest. Import the video as a separate flat track, then drag this onto the texture track. Can you try that?

Good – glad that is working for you Chris. So, to get the video image onto the C shape, you need to use the textures tab. Set the face count to 1, then enable the texture checkbox. Then set the map method to stretch and load the texture video in the timeline by clicking on the V1 icon on the Front Texture sub-track.

One way to achieve this look is to apply the BCC Directional BLur to the clip that you want to affect, then set the Spread parameter to a value of 100 and use the Blur Amount value to control the distance of the double vision look – a value of 2 or 3 seems to work well. To add a little unsteadiness to this, add the BCC Film Damage filter and disable everything except for the Shake parameter. You can customize the amount of shake with the x, y, and speed parameters in the Shake group.

Parenting can be achieved by nesting any number of tracks into a 3D Container track. This will enable you to perform group moves or actions on all tracks that have been placed into the container. If you need further assistance with this please let me know.

If you are using the BCC 5 AE version of the product within FCP 6 then the projects should come forward and operate as expected, however, if you are using the BCC 5 FxPlug version of the filters in FCP 6 then the BCC 3 filters will not come forward as the BCC AE and the BCC FxPlug are different products and do not share the same filter settings. BCC 5 AE and BCC 5 FxPlug can co-exist on the same system.

I suggest you try using the trial version of BCC 5 within FCP 6 to ensure that the projects will migrate forward on your new system. Going forward, I strongly suggest that you use the FxPlug version of the filters instead of the AE version, relying on the AE version only to migrate projects forward.

And if we do manage to write code so that we can make an uninstaller for the Mac we’ll be sure to include it in a future release but for the time being because Vise only supports the uninstall option for hardcoded paths we can’t use it with our software.

Hi Harley,

When you launch the RED Engine, you should see a splash screen that incorporates a programatically generated number. This number contains the date of issue and version of the software. And example of this might be observed as such:

4.1.1.070112

This translates into the following:

RED version 4.1.1 with an issue date of January 12th, 2007 (YYMMDD)

or:

4.1.4.070612

which is translated into:

RED version 4.1.4 with an issue date of June 12th, 2007.

This is the same information that is displayed when you select “About Boris RED” from the pulldown menu within the RED application on the Mac and under the Help menu on Windows.

Uninstallers are a part of the installation mechanism and not something that is programmed by us. On Windows it’s easy, because the installer Install Shield supports this function, however on the Mac we use the Vise installer, which does not offer this an option for our applications. This means that while it is an automated process on Windows, removing our applications on the Mac remains a manual process.

We added a few fixes for some issues that had been discovered post the 4.1.4 release and made this available as 4.1.5. I would suggest upgrading to the latest version – from where you are (4.1.4) it’s completely free for you to do so.
