Hi Dan,

The BC Units is our way or providing a sub-set of filters for a discounted price along the lines of “a la carte” shopping. The idea is that if an editor or compositor needs (for instance) a lens flare filter to complete a job but doesn’t really have a need (or budget) for the entire box set of filters then they can purchase just the Lens Flares as BC Lens Flare Unit. All of the BC Units are a sub-set of BCC 5 so if you already have BCC 5 then you already have all of the BC Units.

As William mentioned, all of this info is available on the company web site but I thought I’d just post this explanation just in case.

Hi,

The animation system in AE and in RED are a little different, especially in regard to the pivot points. To offset the pivot for the scale you should probably nest the chart track into a #D Container track. This is like using a null controller in AE. Then in the 3D Container you go to the Pivot tab, enable the scale around pivot function, unlock the position from the pivot by clicking on the lock icon next to the position and pivot parameters, offset the position and pivot from each other, and then return to the position tab and set the scale that you need.

I’ve noticed some unexpected results with BCC 4 in AVX 1.5 but when I promote the effect to AVX 2 the problem disappears and the effect appears as expected. Are you using AVX 1.5 or AVX 2.0? If you are using AVX 1.5 you might want to try promoting the effect to AVX 2.0.

Hi,

The last DVD that I know of for this product was created by Class on Demand and features James Rankin. It is BCC 4. For the basic operation of the filters this DVD should suffice as the interface did not really change from 4 to 5 – we just added more filters and upgraded the motion tracker section of the filter for the BCC 5 version.

Gosh … the release of RED 3 GL was so many years ago now that it’s difficult for me to confirm that there was a font issue, which could have been introduced with a point release. I have no idea why this would work in RED 4 but not in RED 3 but I can hunt around to see if there is any additional information on the issue in our archives.

I am not certain of this but it might be the results of improvements to the software. If it was the other way around we would be concerned and would need to act but that it’s something that did not function in RED 3 but functions in RED 4 should be seen as a testament to the diligence of our engineering staff, no? 🙂

Well that’s an odd one alright. I just tried that on my systems here and (of course) it worked as expected. I’m using the latest version of RED (4.3) – could that be the difference? I’ve tried this on Windows and Mac systems and it appears to operate just fine.

Are you using the plug-in or the standalone? If you are using the plug-in then what host are you plugged into? If you have not yet tried this in standalone mode, could you check that to see if that may be related to the issue that you are seeing?

Is this happening when you use the standalone RED application or in the plug-in? Or both? If it’s in the plug-in, can you tell me what host application you are using?

I’ve actually not heard of this issue before but if you would like to send me a sample mpeg where this is happening I’d be happy to take a look at it for you.
