Ah I’m sorry. I think you’re referring to the ‘Work Area Bar’. That is not on by default in Premiere. In order to enable you need to go to the Timeline menu (3 lines next to the sequence name) > Select ‘Work Area Bar’.

I hope that’s what you’re looking for!

You can also you In and Out points Premiere for rendering and exports specific sections. Keyboard shortcut I/O.

Hi Dean,

Not silly. Depending on the .mxf files and system Premiere handles mfx quite well. Depending on how many clips you need to replace and the naming of the clips there’s a few ways you can accomplish this.

In the future or perhaps for this project you may want to try the Render and Replace or Proxy feature. There’s lots of great tutorials on the web. Here’s some Adobe put together.

A potential simple solution is:

1. Select all of your .mxf files in the sequence
2. Right-click > Select ‘Make Media Offline’
3. Select all clips again > Right-click, and select ‘Link Media’
4. From the Link Media dialog box, uncheck File Extension (since you changed that) > Select ‘Locate’
5. Navigate to the .mov file(s) you created and select it > Select OK
All of the files may automatically get relinked but it might require you to do this one by one.

This info comes from Trent who worked on the Proxy feature. Hopefully some of this info will be useful if not, let me know and we can dive deeper into it.

“Relink others automatically” has some conditions in order to work (which Create Proxies accounts for).
– The Proxies must have names matching the Full Res/original with “_Proxy” appended to the name. e.g.: Full Res = scene01.mxf, Proxy = scene01_Proxy.mov.
– The Proxies should also be in a separate folder, preferably next to the Full Res/original clips.
– You then want to choose the first clip it asks to attach to and the others should automatically relink correctly.
– Merged clips are not currently supported for Proxy
 
That said, there still may be some cases where you will have to attach one by one.

I’m not seeing any issues with ACVI.mov files in our upcoming release on windows. I don’t have 2015.4 available at the moment but I’m pretty confident they’d be fine there as well.

Note that the files were generated in FCP7 and another set from a Grass Valley server. If you want to provide me a small sample file I can take a look at it for you.
