It is kind of annoying me now 🙂
I uninstalled Cineform using revo uninstaller and deep a thorough removal. I used the info from here
https://cineform.zendesk.com/entries/20042703-System-Clean-How-to-do-a-Clean-Install and followed those steps. I also deleted the premier and AME preferences and re started.
It is still there.

I am able to locate lagarith and adjust the settings and make changes and save a preset etc from within premiere but as soon as AME opens CineForm jumps in place. There is no option from within AME to select lagorith. It is rather frustrating. It is putting me of CineForm rapidly. If anybody wants to ‘sell’ me on CineForm then go ahead 🙂 atm I am not impressed.

Thanks for your help.
I did export from Premiere with the “MPeg 2 dvd” and this created two streams.The video and the audio. These came into Encore with a ‘don’t Transcode” and “automatic” for the audio (.wav). I had 25fms progressive pal widescreen in the export options. I left the settings at default.
I don’t have access to the project file at the moment but I have re burned dvd’s I have transcoded the sound on this version and also put a counting leader and a ten second run in slate before the film starts. Hopefully that will give their player a little time to ‘sort itself out’
I think I chose constant bitrate at 30mps for the first render to mpeg2 dvd I have used variable bitrate for the second and used the default settings in media encoder for that.
I do not own a dvd player. Maybe I should get an old one to test on. They play ok on an old laptop and my Desktop.

Thanks again that is great. Just one little thing. I used action script 2 years ago quite a bit so it is all rather vague these days. I am sure that I can use that little snippet and tweak it.

I want to use it with a slider and an existing expression.

I have this on my slider: effect(“Both Channels”)(1)
and this on my opacity property: thisComp.layer(“Audio Amplitude”).effect(“Both Channels”)(“Slider”)

If you had an example how to integrate the: If (value > 20) 100 else 0:
In either of those lines it would be great.

Also to extend the if else so that: if greater than twenty but less than twenty five 100 if greater than 25 80 else 0

That would make my day. I think I could roll from there and then find a good basic expressions page somewhere to embeish.

Expressions are addictive 🙂

I was wondering if you had found any solutions. I have the exact same problem. No matter what I try I get a very soft poor quality render for dvd.

Yeah picture loss is unavoidable.The results I used to get back in the recent day were terrible. More so if I used quicktime for some reason. Very very soft no matter what I did. Sharpen filters and suchlike. I am thinking CS6 is a lot better.
I am happy to make an intermediate Tiff sequence and do the scaling in that render. It is a big file but it is only a temp file really. That way the gradients and suchlike seem to maintain more or less fidelity with the original. Lagorith is good too.
Bitvice I have not heard mentioned before so cheers for that. Might be worth investing.

Thanks Chris. A couple of years ago it was the case that that method produced really bad results. No matter what settings were chosen. I expect some loss of quality but it was very bad. Just wondered if it had changed.
I am doing tests to see. I just wondered if anyone had any tips.

Apologies for the delay. Sort of helps. Not to fond of nested sequences though. Seems like I render the sequence then it has to all render again on the timeline from scratch every time a little change is made.
Anyway all is good now
