    Man, are you for real!!?

Just joking. Edit got terminated with extreme prejudice a couple of years ago. It’s still chuffing along though without discreet’s help…

  • Ditto Ron, these sort of questions are a waste of badwidth I’m afraid to say. You can be assured that the HVX200 is already set in concrete, the plastic molding dies are been constructed and the manual written. These sort of changes (CCD and lens) don’t happen in the last few months before shipping. I’m told we will have PAL units here in Australia by September.

Yep, Just looking at it again. The P4 875P Extreme only has 512k L2. Not sure if an older dual Xeon 2.8 533fsb might be faster on the rendering and encoding than my single Prescott 3.2 DDR400/800fsb. So many choices and so little money to spend….

I thinking a smaler investment will tide me over until the dual-core Xeon gear comes out a bit cheaper.

Hmmmmm….I think I’ll let sleeping dogs lie and pass on Vegas for the moment. It’s got some cool stuff that I would like to see Premiere incorporate, but not enough to spend time mastering it. It makes more sense to me now to know it started as a DAW.

Yep, I’ve got a 3.2 Prescott and can capture 2+ hours without a dropped frame. I do have a 10-disc U320 array though.

I changed “go to next edit on target track” to “TAB”
“go to previous edit on target track” to “SHIFT-TAB”
    Apply default video transition “ALT-A”
    Apply default audio transition “ALT-Z”
MUCH faster with your left hovering over these frequently used commands.

Yes mainly analogue transfers, but I would like to test it anyway. How do I download the correct version of firmware? My email is peter@php.com.au

    Cheers,

    Thanks John for the offer,

I already have a SD-Connect! Because I have a Decklink card I don’t know if there is an advantage for me to go in to PPro with firewire uncompressed. (or is there?)

April 27, 2005 at 9:36 pm in reply to: Is 2 gigs of ram worth it for PPro

I have 2-gig, and editing large amounts of uncompresed clips and/or stills then rendering to MPEG-2 will use up ALL the RAM eventually. I know this because I always have FreeRAM monitoring in the tray at the bottom of screen. If I could afford it I would have gone 4-gig (4 x 1-gig sticks)
