  • Not your spelling Mark; mine! I use the SDI-only Decklink with DVCPRO50.

  • Gee Ron, I wish you had a spell chekker on the Cow.

  • Mark,

I switched to PPro after eight years of edit. I just got sick of Windows NT and the lack of export variety, 10-bit and MPEG2 quality. What you do get with Premeiere is access to loads of plugins for great grading and effects, intergration with other Adobe products like Photoshop and the ability to use XP products and to export to ANYTHING.

You lose a faster editing workflow with moving from edit. You lose simplicity. You have to render everything (there are RT dissolves with Decklink). But that is not all a bad thing. You get a product that whilst imperfect is developing and will only improve.

And you don’t have to buy a Mac :0)

We run a BFG 6800GT 256mb overclock Barend. Works very nicely with Premiere Pro.

Nicely put Michael, it is a geat community and one I just couldn’t operate without. And do you know what, the only forums that regularly generate this heat is this one and the HDV room.

As I’ve said many times on this forum use FreeRAM XP or use the Task Manager (performance tab) to see if you are running out of ram at that point.

Have you checked your RAM availability at the point where it crashes?

There’s no doubt that if edit had soldiered on with the latest generation of hardware and WinXP, it would have been a screamer. I really think that the lack of a Digisuite successor at the time and the protracted rollout of T3K were significant reasons for edit’s demise.
