Nah, the box idea won’t work as there are five interviews and the user need interactive access via the remote. The zoo doesn’t want the kids pressing a different buton if they get bored with an interview after 5 seconds. They want them to watch the whole one minute interview section/video, then it reverts to menu.

Have you got lots of filters and effects on the timeline? If so I would say you are doomed. I don’t know why, but you are doomed. This has happened to me countless times with long timelines and lots of effects. The only workaround besides running off to tape or another Decklink is to export the effects sequences )ie. successive clips with fileters applied) then re-import them on to the timeline. This seems to fix the “error compiling movie” problem.

I get the dreaded error message on long form stuff. The ONLY way I fixed it was to set up another basic Decklink system and run SDI from the edit master PC to the other PC. I then could encode the new 10-bit digital dub to any format I liked without problems. The error message usually appears if you have a certain combination or type of effects on the timeline. Or it could be memory related. I don’t know for sure.
If you have a good “lossless” tape format like Digi Beta or PRO50, lay off and to tape then redigitise.

I decided to buy a D950 today to replace my D840. It’s a little slower at 3.4MHz but cheaper than the D965. I like to wait until new CPU’s, chipsets are out so the mobo manufacturers can release their higher-end stuff as well.

If you can wait, wait for the new Intel Duo chips in July. They will faster than any of them. But the new D960 dual-core 3.6 Intel is soooo tempting at the moment.

I’d like to see a Decklink (or seperate PCI card like Physix) released that could hardware accelerate effects and rendering for Premiere Pro. A sort of Axio LE for Decklink.

I think the Dell 2405FPW’s are 16:10 so you have to go into the aspect ratio settings on the Dell itself. I had this when I tried to put some HDV into the analogue component inputs.

If you set your rendering preference in the project settings to 10-bit uncompressed, I understand it will render your filters, effects and comps in 10-bit. It certainly won’t be 8-bit if you select the 10-bit setting. I sometime capture in BM 8-bit then set the rendering to 10-bit for the best effects and fades.
