  • Very slightly quished image on Dell monitor in 24.98 timeline

    Hi there,

I have a Blackmagic HD Pro single link card running a Dell 24″ monitor. FCP 5.0.4. Latest Blackmagic downloads. Mac G5 dual.

I have converted some material from 1080i 59.94 DVCPro HD to 23.976p. I did this in MPEG Streamclip.

In FCP when I create a new HDTV 1080psf 23.98 DVCPro HD project and make a new sequence and import my freshly baked new 23.98 file, the right hand side of my De11 monitor has a 3/4 inch black line running down the side of it, and the image is just very slightly squished. However, if I look at the picture in the Canvas of FCP the image is just fine.

I can correct this, bizarrely, by making a fresh HDTV 1080i 59.94 HDVPro setup and importing my 23.98 material into that. And it doesn’t need to render. It runs perfectly.

Can anyone explain this? Am I doing something wierd and crazy? Have I entered a Blackmagic time-warp? Is this harmful?

    Help please.

    Harry.

I think the Dell 2405FPW’s are 16:10 so you have to go into the aspect ratio settings on the Dell itself. I had this when I tried to put some HDV into the analogue component inputs.
