Thanks Tim for the detailed reply. I may look around for a second-hand Quadro 4500. Perhaps if it is optimised for After Effects, there may be some acceleration of AF filters in Premiere Pro. It’s very hard to get a difinitive answer as I’ve never heard of any head-to-head tests with Quadro and GTX on a PPRO system.

One other thing. Moving the capture window around with the mouse or tablet during capture causes the “No Video Input” message to flash repeatedly. Could this be a co-incidence? Kristian?

Hi Manuel,
Yes it’s incredibly frustrating. Matt and the guys tested my original card without being able to duplicate the problem and I’m really appreciative of their efforts, but it still doesn’t work, even with a new replacement card. The fact that I have the same problem in two different PCI-e computers points to the card or drivers as the source of the problem.
At the moment I have to install a standard SDI PCI 32-bit Decklink in the computer for capturing, then replace it with the HD PCI-e for editing. I need the other Decklink in my other workstation so this install/reinstall thing can happen three or four times a day.
I’m also using an ASUS BMD-certified system which has the problem as per my “uncertified” Giga-byte GA-G1975X setup.

Off-thread, but I found a post of yours about the occassional “No Video Input” flashing up in capture which makes capture impossible. I tried all the things you did without success.
I have a HD Extreme PCIe but have the same symptoms you have/had with Multibridge. Black Magic can’t identify the problem. It’s not motherboard or decks as the result is the same on different systems.

It’s damn tricky at the moment. I have a five-year old Panasonic PRO50 D910 which has served me well and the problem of which HD system to go for is frustrating. I don’t really want 1/2″, 25mbit HDV, or 4:2:0, so I may well wait for the 2/3″ XDCAMHD to see what trasnpires. It’s either that or the new Panasonic HDX-900 or the P2 equivalent. It’s almost worse just sitting and doing nothing!

Not to sound unfair, but I think you have a pretty under-powered system there. I would go for minimum 1gb DDR2-667 or 2gb if you can afford it, A NVidia 7900GT or 7900 GTX for GPU-accelerated effects like Magic Bullet, a faster CPU (The Intel dual-core 900-series are very cheap now, ahead of the Conroes in July) and the best X975 mobo you can get (maybe an ASUS P5WD2
or a Gigabyte GA-G1975X.) Of course if you are looking to AMD, I can’t help you on their stuff but I know the Athlons are very fast as well. Peter Corbett

I’ve had that same BSOD thing only once with the HD Extreme PCIe during a capture within Premiere Pro. Hasn’t happened again.
