The scene in Wayne’s World where Garth and Wayne meet Alice Cooper backstage and fall to their knees crying, “we’re not worthy!!!” Bit of an extreme analogy 😉 but I will be interested to hear your views on the P2 format. I’m still agonising whether I go HPX500 (for short term) or wait for the HPX3000 or Infinity, or really really wait for the 2/3″ XDCAM HD.
The 2100 can also take my Sennheiser slot-in radio mic which the 500 doesn’t. As Barry and others have mentioned, there are a lot of features under the bonnet that aren’t on the 500.
I bought a used Canon HDx 21×7.5 HD lens. It’s got a 117mm front element with no thread which makes it tricky for matteboxes. It seems very very sharp on my SDX900 in PRO50. The lens seems closely related to the Canon 21×7.5 cine-style lens. It also has very little breathing. Has anyone else come across this lens? I’d be interested in comments.
David, larger projects are definitely more stable memory-wise, but you still have to careful with projects using very large numbers of very large pixel dimension images. But overall much better than 2.0. Now if BlackMagic can release some Vista64 drivers, we’ll be on the way.
The best way if you have the dough is get either Magic Bullet or 55mm. Both plugins have good (and different) vignette filters and can be infinitely adjusted with blur, size, shading, opacity and shape. The Magic Bullet Misfire Vignette renders VERY quickly on NVidia VGA systems.
