    Jan,
My test was just as you suggest, same room for recording test, same mic and mic placement, imported into FCP. and played back on same Bose speaker system. Is it possible that the audio board in my HVX is defective? Do you recommend sending the camera in for Panasonic Professional service? Thanks for your advice.

    Thanks Jan.

I have been using a Sony ECM-77B Condenser lav mic for interviews. I have been very happy with the sound of this mic in the past with my DVX. I tried to match the audio level on both cameras in my comparison test. I know audio quality is quite subjective but to my ear there is a very noticeable difference in quality between the two cameras.

Noah, thanks for being patient with me.
Yes, I am outputting DV NTSC and I would like to release the show on DVD.
The clip item properties are Anamorphic, DV-NTSC 720X480.

I have SD footage shot in the anamorphic mode of my new HVX 200. Since the project will be viewed mostly on conventional 4:3 TVs I need to output a letterboxed master. I am using Final Cut 4.5, and when I create a letterbox sequence the image sharpness deteriorates. Is there any way to minimize this?

Many thanks for the response. Yes I know that battery weight is an issue. I plan to use a belt mounted Anton Bauer battery to keep the weight off the camera. I have heard that the daylight balanced head is the way to go even if you use the Litepanel mostly indoors. I guess it’s easier to balance the daylight head to tungsten or fluorescent light with the supplied filter set, rather than the other way around. By the way, I have found the manual white balance to be more accurate to my eye on the HVX than the DVX.

I think you just may have answered a question for me. Just to clarify, when you should native 16:9, do you loose resolution when you output a rendered 4:3 letterbox sequence?

Thanks Noah. Apple seems to be cranking stuff out. Looks like the way to go.

Thanks Matt! Good to know. Maybe I’ll wait a bit on the FCP upgrade.

    Thanks Jan! Good to know.

I will be investing in the 200 initially to shoot SD to tape in native 16X9 24p and 30p. Can you confirm that this is possible.

    thanks.
