[Julian Bowman] “Thanks for the support Peter. I already changed to the FCP7 keystrokes (thank you Adobe!!!) which brings a degree of familiarity). As for the rest, as I said above, probably best I use tutorials.”
I actually found with a little experimentation that I integrated most of the FCP 7 shortcuts and also changed some to match what I wanted to create. Really nice feature. I subscribed to the Creative Cos tutorials in Itunes and then watched the ones that I wanted to. Some you dont need, but others gave a lot of tips.

Julian,
I’ve recently went down the same road you are…downloading the trila and going thru my own “it doesn’t do this like I’m used to” comparing it to FCP 7. I was also surprised that when you posted two different questions it took a while for you to get an answer. That’s very unusual. One thing in particular has stood out when I first read this forum (and the Adobe one) was the almost immediate response other posters get when they ask a question. That’s why I was so surprised. Having actual Adobe employees on the forum really helps.Having said this, there are a wealth of tutorials, all free, that I finally decided to watch and then make my decision to purchase it. The Creative Cow series, Adobes own videos, and some on Youtube made me decide to get the whole suite. After having to stumble a little more and probably still will do, change the keyboard shortcuts to my own preferences (which is kinda neat), as I use PP I’m getting more and more comfortable with it.
After all, it took me years and many generations of FCP to get totally used to it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Todd. I have to tell you that it’s really nice to hear from someone who puts it right up from that they work for Adobe and offer lot’s of advice. Very much appreciated.

I’ve also been using FCP since way back in the FCP3 days, and have switched over. I loked at all of the recommendations posted by Todd, but I’ve also found the Creative Cow podcasts VERY useful. I subscribed to the entire series and “cherry picked” which ones I wanted to view.

Basically, PP is very similar to FCP 7 in many ways and being able to use the FCP shortcuts really made the transition smooth in most cases. I’ve cut about 3 pieces on it and like anything else different I’ve have stumbled a few times trying to figure out the “how to do it’s” but after a week or so this is becoming a very small issue.
Good luck.

Thanks very much for the links.

OK, I just found out that it works in the sequence as well. Thanks for the tip. It’s fun experimenting again.

Yeah, I saw that one, but I was looking for one in the sequence panel.

Hi,
The Sony GVH-D700 will do this. I use it with a Canon HV 30 and Sony A1u and downconvert it to SD capturing with fcp.“life on Guam is great..except for typhoons!”

Thanks Luke, you’ve convinced me.
