I’ve tried this dfference matte, but since the materiale has so poor quality, and has no color but only greyscale, the people are being removed also, when the background is removed.
I have earlier seen an effect, where it was possible to paint the content of one frame on another frame in the sequence, but I don’t know if that’s possible in AE.
IF it is, I maybe could isolate the background, increase the contrast and then have more clear differences to use the difference matte on. -

The problem is, that the original files is in Microsoft MPEG-4, so I’ve use Sorenson Squeeze on a PC, to transcode it in to H264 with the original settings: 30 FPS, 640×480, square pixels, and then I use Compressor to transcode it into an image sequence, so it’s both a playback issue, and a format problem

I’ve give it a try both at Markertek and B&H, but I can’t find the cheap solution (it can be there, and just me there can’t find it), because since it’s a teaching situation there aren’t money to pay for a “big” pro-installation. -
Video and audio are both going out via firewire, and there are no sync problem, but “only” a delay, so when he stops the video on an exact frame in a new sequence, the timemarker are several frames in the sequence.

With FCP the solution IS to open the plist (as described another place on this site), but with Motion it doesn’t work.
The system is OS X 10.4.5 and QT 7.0.4.
FCP IS up and running after the changes in plist, but Motion 🙁

The customer HAS tried to play out from the DV machine to the DVD deck, and it work fine, so it seems like the “problem” is at the FCP signal.Sorry
