So you are Shooting HDV – are you editing HDV or DV? If you downconverting to DV from the Z1 and capturing/editing DV then a DV avi is definitely the way to go – even if you are editing HDV it is probably the most straightforward way to go IMHO.

For heavy use I’d recommend Sorenson Squeeze first, then Canopus Procoder – I use both to good effect. If you are working with DV it would be best to export a DV avi for conversion in Squeeze / Procoder. For a much cheaper (but almost certainly slower and perhaps more limited) option it might be worth taking a look at upgrading your Quicktime player to Quicktime Pro – Not sure if QT Pro likes big .avi files much, I’ve heard the encodes can take quite a while – maybe an export to a Quicktime DV file from Premiere would be the best option before encoding to MPEG4 in QT Pro. HTH.

I’d suggest making a new stationary title showing the end title as you want it – drop it in the timeline in a track above your scrolling title….if you get the cut right from your scroll to the end title it should scroll then hold OK, then apply the fade to your new stationary title clip. Granted it’s a workaround, but it should, at least, do the trick.

The Project is 16:9 SD,I import SD DV avi (Premiere Captures from DVCAM) and native HDV MPEG2 files(HDV captures from another app). Premiere indexes the HDV files for a while, then I can drop them in the timeline. Hope that helps….

I’m currently mixing PAL HDV 1080i 7 PAL 16:9 Widescreen in a PAL 16:9 Project – I can scale and re-frame the HDV to fit the SD project. It’s slow, but works on a P4 3.6ghz with 1 MB of Ram. If you want fast performance and don’t have a kick-*ss machine, I’d say you would be best of turning your HDV into SD avi’s – unless you want to make use of re-framing and zooming in on the HDV footage.

In the Effects Control panel, click on the arrow to reveal options – select motion – select rotation – adjust your picture by required amount.

If you haven’t come across the effects panel before, select window – workspace – effects…all will be revealed.

Thanks for the update Tim, I guess I’ll just have to fork out the extra for another copy of Photoshop CS2 & Encore 2.0 if I want to carry on running my business the way I have for the last 18 months. For me, this makes the package not quite such a good deal after all.

Thanks Tim – if I get you right, then I should be able to install and activate the software on two machines simultaneously…with simultaneous operation of different component applications a possibility but not a definite subject to detection over a network….and if I disconnected the network then both seats should functionat the same time? At least if I don’t have to activate and deactivate every time I want to swap systems that would be something….still, seems to me that Abode have just struck another blow for the Crackers and Hackers (many of whom I have to compete with for business in the market place), who won’t be penalised with this sort of hassle like us license paying folks.

PS We meet at last…I am another poster formally known on the Cow as TimK, but one day The Cow disallowed my log in name so I adopted the nom-de-plume of my Video Business.
