    Hi Nick

When do you realise the disks are corrupt, during the burning or verification process, or later when you go back to use the archive at a later date?

I was having some problems where disks would get 90% complete, and then Toast would announce that the burn had failed, and I had to do it over again. I seemed to have solved this problem by turnin on Buffer Underrun Protection.

You can activate this feature as follows:
    1. Select to menu item: Recorder > Recorder Settings

    Hi Thomas

Whereas I agree with the other guys, and I would use QuickTime Pro to export the sequence as a movie, to answer your question, you can change the default duration of imported stills.

    1. Go to the menu: Final Cut Pro > User Preferences

    Hey Roy

I am inclined to agree with the other guys — set up the stills animations in After Effects, export as animation codec.

When you bring these files into FCP, apply the Flicker Fixer (Medium) filter, just to smooth it up a little.

    Hope this helps, good luck!

    Hi Jeri

I always break this step into two processes:
    1. Record from VHS VCR to miniDV tape
    2. Captuure into FCP from miniDV tape

The best part of this is that you will have an archive of your footage with timecode that FCP can use at a later date — and your clips will be frame accurate for future reference.

    Hope this helps.

May 18, 2005 at 12:08 am in reply to: what’s the werd on tiger

    Hi Dedister

My advice is to wait until FCP5 ships. I upgraded to Tiger, and had a few days of pulling hair out, reinstalling FCP, Motion, Compressor, rinse, repeat. We did get things working, but it was quite frustrating.

And since the upgrade, we are now no longer able to “rountrip” our Motion files in FCP sequences; ie. FCP will now no longer render a Motion sequence correctly from the timeline.

I expect everything should be all jazzed up for FCP Studio… Bring it on.

    Best of luck

    Regards
    Peter

Thank GOD! I thought I was going crazy!

I have noticed this too, since upgrading to 10.4.1, I have experienced very lengthy delays in all applications for the Open and Save dialogs to appear. I have noticed that it happens only the first time for each application. ie. Save As a second document works fine.

Sometimes the delays have been 60 seconds!

    Anyone else experiencing it?

Hopefully this will be fixed in 10.4.2…

    Regards
    Peter

    Hey Suzy

i second Jerry’s Advice, SnapzPro X2 is excellent, and I use it a lot. It records video smoothly and cleanly, and looks great.

    Man! Am I jealous! 😉

Please make sure you give us the low-down as soon as the get up and running.

Am dying to get my hands on Soundtrack Pro and FCP’s new multi-cam feature.
Why is it as soon as someone announces a feature, you suddenly believe you can’t LIVE without it??

    Regards
