OT – Tiger and iDisk
Posted by Walter Biscardi on May 17, 2005 at 12:07 pmHey guys,
For those of you who have updated to Tiger, are any of you with iDisk accounts having trouble accessing your account? It takes about 4 – 5 minutes for my iDisk to mount on the desktop and about 4 – 5 minutes to access any folder. I looked at the Apple Discussions page and there are other folks are having the same issue with Tiger. My OS 10.3.8 machines are working fine with iDisk.
Thanks!

May 17, 2005 at 12:36 pmOk, add one more thing…..
Since running the update to 10.4.1 has anyone had issues with Expose or File saving?
Expose won’t work at all on my laptop and whenever I try to save a file in Photoshop, it take anywhere from 30 seconds to one minute to bring up the “Save dialog” with the drives, etc….
Just curious if this is isolated to my laptop or if anyone else is seeing these issues. This is a great example of why I never run OS updates to my FCP systems without trying them on my laptop and my older G4’s first.

May 17, 2005 at 5:10 pmThank GOD! I thought I was going crazy!
I have noticed this too, since upgrading to 10.4.1, I have experienced very lengthy delays in all applications for the Open and Save dialogs to appear. I have noticed that it happens only the first time for each application. ie. Save As a second document works fine.
Sometimes the delays have been 60 seconds!
Anyone else experiencing it?
Hopefully this will be fixed in 10.4.2…
Regards

That’s better than me. I get the delay with every save.

May 17, 2005 at 5:51 pmI’m running 10.4 on an old 15″iMacG3. iDisk mounts instantly. Uploading and downloading are superfast.
I am updating the OS to 10.41 as we speak. Tell you what happens in a few minutes.bogiesan
This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

May 17, 2005 at 6:08 pmUpdate from Tiger.0 to Tiger.1 is complete.
Everything on my old iMac feels suddenly snappier. Hard to explain, just a feeling, maybe wishful thinking.
iDisk is instantaneous. Expos -

May 17, 2005 at 6:47 pmI had a “save as” problem under Combustion the first time I ran it after the 10.4.1 update. Now it seems to be working fine. I noticed a sligthly longer delay when powering up my LaCie firewire drives. Safari works better under Tiger — faster and more responsive.
