yes get the rental house to set up everything possible based on what you expect the job to be – you pay a lot for the rental so they should earn their keep beyond dropoff and pickup (at least the good ones do). and get a cell phone number of their tech if you can!

if your hdcam deck is in 29.97 / 59.94, SD sync should work. the gen10 is a must in hd 23.98.

weird. now i can get it to work over and over. trying the same setups as yesterday. it was weird that aja techs and i could not get it to work over the phone yesterday and had to try that weird bassackward procedure…

me too. i had it in the back of my mind this was basic stuff, then it occurred to me that maybe this was something the card only did in standalone mode.

when selecting the 720p59.94 easy setup in fcp that sets the k3 cp buffer to the same. selecting 1080 secondary gives crossconvert icon after buffer. tried on both 10.5.4 / k3 6.0 and 10.5.5 / k3 6.1.
only way we (aja support) got it to work was to quit fcp, set k3 control panel, restart fcp (input sdi icon is now red indicating incompatible format – and no crossconvert icon before buffer) but got it to work once…“HE’S SUCH A GIRL” HD feature film

but, does the aja sdi to hdmi box do 1.3 10 bit (i’ve found it hard to get the specs from either bmd or aja.) as it is we do pass thru from the sony crt hd to the latest panny plasma pro 1080p 50″ for client monitor and it is ok – just compared on a sony 4k projector (but still only hd output from kona 3) and levels look good to eye (dp, director and colorist (me) opinion).

you have an extra drive bay in that mac. really good idea is to clone your boot drive to that and then update everything and see if it works. if not, you can always go back…
one thing we’ve found is that upgrading a system from 10.4 to 10.5 is a pretty big jump and have had more reliable results just starting from scratch with a fresh install of everything starting with 10.5 on up (big pain, but can save possible heartache later). imho“HE’S SUCH A GIRL” HD feature film
