    Hello to all:

I need to update (which I hate doing) to Final Cut Studio 2 and was wondering if there is a stable combination of software that anyone is using.

    I am using:
    2 X 3 GHz Dual Core Intel G5
    4 GB RAM
    Kona 3
X RAID via Fibre Channel Card
    OSX 10.4.10
    QT 7.1.6

    Thanks everyone for your time.

upgrade to the lastest everything. It is stable –
this means OS-X 10.5.5 with QT 7.5 (or at the very least OS-X 10.4.11).

Then uninstall and REINSTALL your AJA kona drivers from the AJA website V6.0.1.

you have an extra drive bay in that mac. really good idea is to clone your boot drive to that and then update everything and see if it works. if not, you can always go back…
one thing we’ve found is that upgrading a system from 10.4 to 10.5 is a pretty big jump and have had more reliable results just starting from scratch with a fresh install of everything starting with 10.5 on up (big pain, but can save possible heartache later). imho

I ASSUME that you are doing a FRESH INSTALL. I have always had issues with an “upgrade”, and not doing a clean install.

    Hi
Does that include a fresh initialisation under 10.5.* of older drives or RAIDS that were used under Tiger – did the drive formatting change?

this does not change drive formatting. Drives from 10.4 work perfectly with 10.5. There is no fear in doing this.
