we’ve got an LG in an external sata enclosure and it works fine with a caldigit sata pcie sata card. now if we could just find a bluray player that can playback bdr disks!

i haven’t had much luck using vtr exchange to grab tiffs as explained in the manual (and it even says that you will likely get dropped frames?! – what’s the use of that?)
anyone know if the new kona adobe driver/premier cs4 can grab image sequences?)“HE’S SUCH A GIRL” HD feature film

thanks for the input Jeremy & Gary.
just so I understand – does the flame, IQ, etc digitize the footage from tape as a progressive image sequence? I seem to remember autodesk giving us a sales pitch that it comes in as rgb 444 tiffs from whatever source and then you output whatever frame size and rate you want.this is just weird coincidence for us as we always ingest as QT native SD or HD or PAL or NTSC (always 10bit) and yesterday we had two of our major clients out of the blue insisting that we ingest progressive image sequences for them to work in AE….

Well, I just talked to the client and he says on high end systems (like flame, etc.) everything is brought in progressive, w/out pulldown and that is all added back during output. I was not aware of this and see no way to do it FCP/Kona3. anyone? Buhler?

1080 for both. you could probably do it without the gen10 even.
tri-sync is more critical with 23.98“HE’S SUCH A GIRL” HD feature film

i actually did my first hd job on the 3 internal drives on a mac pro striped raid 0. it was a 30 min short film. we onlined from D5 10 bit UNCOMPRESSED (call me a primadonna i guess). and then graded in color (32bit float- primadonna again). then layed back to D5. it worked fine.
BUT, it was a 1080 23.98 10bit project. and that as they say is a big but.
1080 59.94 was enough of a increase to break it.
so it depends on what flavor of 10 bit your doing.
you can build a cheap sata raid buying mailorder parts (port multiplier enclosure, 500 gb drives) just make sure you get a good sata host card like the caldigit which will have stable drivers.
not ideal or as rock solid as a big caldigit sas, but hey…“HE’S SUCH A GIRL” HD feature film
