Yeah, on the top of the line MBP these days you only have options for processor and hard drive size. They all get 16GB ram and latest nvidea card.

I’m editing some R3D 5k just this morning on a Early 2103 MBP. 2.7i7, 16GB ram, 512 SSD. I’m using a SSD on a Seagate Thunderbolt adapter as my media drive. Works best at 1/8 resolution and easy enough to cut that way. The new MBP’s have a better card with 2GB ram as opposed to the 1GB in my set up.

  • You can try making a copy of any of the .vob files and then change the extension to .mpg.

Happens often enough. From now on though you’ll just bang your head and think what am I missing? I’ve been here before!

I got a call from a director I work with just today who told me he had a new mac pro and had deleted FCP7 off the last of his machines so as to force his move to CC. I’ve showed him X, but he wasn’t too keen on it. He’s not the real editing type, but he has to get into it every once in a while. Hell he probably won’t even use PPro that much as he loves logging and rough cutting in Prelude. That makes my job easier for sure.

I stand corrected. I certainly do see it as I go from project to project. But I’m with Matt, it doesn’t bug me. Seems like a good way to start I guess. Sorry if it’s causing you any wasted time.
