How complicated is the mix? We try for -21 here.VO, SOT, music, nats. If your happy with the mix just start pushing each channel up +1 till you get there. I trust the radar more than vu.

Do a Smart Bin. Click that little magnifying glass and restrict your criteria to “cooler” and name.

You’ll really see the advantage when you capture in HQ, edit in HQ (with HQ set up as the preview format) and then output in HQ (with the Use Previews selected). Your renders will fly out. This workflow optimizes everything.
And this doesn’t have to be HQ. I use the same workflow for DNxHD and 422.

In the flyout menu of the Effects Control Panel make sure Pin To Clip is checked.

Have you ever thought of picking your selects in Prelude? I know this doesn’t address the crashing (which I’m not experiencing and I’ve been cutting news promos all week working exactly as you describe), but tagging all your rushes in Prelude first is damn handy.

Are you tabbing between sequences? Or are you “pancaking” your timelines?

Set your program monitor to 1/4 resolution.

So you can option drag in the timeline on these to create unique instances of them or duplicate them in the project bin. You want to do this as changes happen to globally to any instance of the graphic.

In AE, highlight the comp, go to composition settings, go to the advanced tab, check the Template box to enable type layers for live type.
In PPro, through Media Browser navigate to to the AE Project and import. Then choose the comp you want through Dynamic Link. Double click on this element in the project bin to load it into the source monitor, in the effects control tab you will now be able to change the type.
