You can use Prelude to load the card and then Transfer Clips to Destination without any transcoding and it will duplicate the card structure. This is really handy with AVCHD as you can only select the clips you want and it will create a AVCHD structure with just your selects.
I’ve had plenty of problems with FCPX not reading copies of cards but have never had a problem with PPro or Prelude reading a Finder level copy.

Hit D (select clip at playhead) and then M while the timeline plays. This puts the marker on the clip.

I remember PPro 5.5 and 6 having a horrible time with playback if the scopes were open or even on a tab in your layout. Sluggish starts and jumpy playback until the tab was closed. It’s fixed now, but I mention since some signs here seem to be pointing to things that need to be redrawn as being the culprit. Personally, I don’t use any plug-ins with FCPX and it gets sluggish all the time.

You can right click on the MC clip in the Project Bin and select Open In Timeline to see all that tracks. And you can select all your edits in the timeline and flatten it to commit the edits.

Load the clip in Prelude and mark all the parts you want as subclips with unique names. Send the subs to PPro and make sequences from each one. Bummer you can’t do multiples or create a hotkey for “Make New Sequence From Clip” but it’s probably the best way to keep the sequences organized.

Said goodbye to a 4 year old Corporate gig the first of February and I’ve been actively shaking the bushes in DFW since then. I have seen one job ask for FCPX this entire time. Doesn’t mean folks aren’t using it. I know they are. I use it on some gigs. But it is next to never that you see it advertised. Only slightly higher for Avid. It’s all Creative Cloud they ask for not even PPro specifically in each instance. So there may be something to that “We need somebody to do everything” bit.

Try opening one of those .mpg files in AE. I’ve done that before and it worked. Exported just the audio from AE and synced it back up in PPro.
Total rubber band and baling wire work around, I know! I figured all this out years ago when DVDs were flying in from all over the place and it seemed no two were ever the same. Desperate measures for sure, but it got the job done.

Try duplicating the VOBs and changing the extension to .mpg. Had to do that just today. Worked like a charm.
