May 24, 2010 at 3:20 am in reply to: ATTO 380 S.M.A.R.T. Notification numbers

    Hi Fred,

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it.

Question though, do you really think those numbers are Fahrenheit? I just have a hard time believing that my drives have not failed running one week at those temperatures. I have my Mac Pro rack mounted in my ISO Box as well and the numbers I pull from some temperature mounting software shows those drives running at 110, which is good. Just seems like the numbers from the ATTO card might be some arbitrary scale that I don’t fully have the code for.

    Thanks,

    Billy

May 24, 2010 at 2:20 am in reply to: JBL MSC1 vs Mackie Big Knob: opinions wanted

I use the PreSonus Central Station and highly recommend it. It is a rack mounted unit that has a remote unit that you can keep on your desktop to control monitors, volume and source. One cable connects the remote unit to the rack unit so your desktop stays clean. I have several sources, protools, digital out from my Mac and analog out from my Kona 3 card then two sets of monitors I toggle between. The remote is awesome and super responsive.

I did have a Big Knob and I hated the clutter it created on the desk. All your monitors and sources need to route into the unit so you’ll have a ton of cables running up to your desk. Now if you don’t want to mount the unit on your desk, not a problem. However I’m constantly changing volume and sources so if I have to reach off my desk to do something it bothers me.

Never used the JBL unit so I can’t speak of it but they do make great monitors!

    Hope this helps

    Thanks Ty,

Everything went great and the syncing was fine. It was my first time using the 744T and I have to say I loved it. I can believe how simple it was to navigate.

    Thanks again,
    Billy

    Arnie,

Actually they do stock one type of power supply, you can use this one:

    https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/259995-REG/AJA_DWP12V_DWP12V_Power_Supply_for.html

It’s 12VDC, the GEN10 accepts 5-18VDC as do most AJA Mini Converters so you can use them with an Anton Bauer power source.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Chris,

You might want to run the hardware test disc that came with your G5. Might not have anything to do with your reinstall, could just be bad timing.

Last fall my 2.5 Quad G5 would give me a Kernal Panic within 10 minutes of booting it, once it would reboot it was fine. Very strange. Turns out after I took the system in to Apple I had a bad processor.

Worth running the hardware test to see if you have any issues. On the bright side since I had so many problems with that system and I was under Apple Care, they gave me a new computer.

  • Michael,

Sorry, I over looked the line in your post where you were missing the Last Clip.txt. That file is a must. My bad.

Shane gave you a great answer that I’ve never heard before. I’ve been working with P2 material for over two years and I’ve been fortunate enough to never be missing the LastClip.txt. I’m going to have to give Shanes solution (via Randy Wedick) a try.

    Good luck.

  • Michael,

I’m trying to understand what you are opening when it comes to the P2 data. You shouldn’t need to go into the contents folder. Simply open of the Card folder (each P2 Card should have been saved in a unique individual folder) Inside the card folder should be Contents and Last Clip.txt. Just open that in the Log and Transfer window, all the clips on the card/folder should load into the window. You should never need to go into the contents folder.

    Best,
    Billy

Time Capsule seems to really be hit and miss with people. I’ve had mine about a week and it’s worked perfectly. Have two laptops backing up to it.

I did read that it should be set up as the main base station if you have more than one. Good thing because I wasn’t going to set mine up that way.
