Not true.
You need the PE codec bundle to get the IMX codec.
You can’t download the IMX codec due to licences isuess. So you need an AVID product installer to get it.
I can’t stand this childish behaviour…. AVID JUST GIVE IT TO THE USERS.https://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=345511
Avid Codecs PE contains the MPEG IMX codec while the Avid Codecs LE package does not because of end-user licensing issues. You can find the Avid Codecs PE installer under Installers\AvidCodecsPE.

Is it perhaps a new iMac? The black/metal one?
I also have this issues with P2 firewire on new iMacs.
Not on any other mac.
a normal DV camera works fine right? or any other firewire device.
It’s just the camera keeps saying disconnect right?

question: When I send 1080i29.7 8bit from FCP to the kona is the data rate 100+ MBs?
NO! Your video in the timeline determines what datarate you need.
I always output 8 bit. SD Uncompressed, DV, DVCPRO HD.
It’s just outputting your signal.I have no idea why it’s still freezing but i’m sure it’s not datarate issue.
Do you have normal playback with SD?

Yes, the latest iMac update is installed.
Also final cut studio. But it mounts also on systems without final cut studio.
Even macbooks out of the box mount the NoNAME volume. In the meanwhile , i have 2 new iMacs that do work.
Looks like the first series we received have this issue.
It’s not the firewire port, DV devices and audio interfaces work fine.
Also the HVX 200 in tape mode doesn’t work.It seems to be a first series new iMac/HVX200 issue.
I still have 3 iMacs that don’t work with the HVX200 firewire on any way. -
Video playback in FCP should be 1080i29.97
First output to AJA. Then AJA will downconvert.
You have to see the AJA control panel BETWEEN FCP and OUPUT.
That ‘s why you have your problem.
goodluck

Exactly..
Again to make my point clear. I know i have to hold down the MCR button.
I work for an audio/video solution expert. I do this every day.
If i get a macbook straight out of the box. I connect the HVX200 thru firewire.
Hold the MCR button. Boom it mounts. I don’t have to install any P2 driver to make it mount.
I just tried it again to make sure. Macbook out of the box and it mounts!!
I’m not stupid 🙂 It doesn’t MOUNT on the new iMac. I can guarantee that to you guys.
It’s just the new iMac. I tried 3 different new iMacs.

yes i did.
But the P2 driver is only nescessary if you use the p2 cards directly. ( for pcmcia or duelsystems)
I’m connecting the HVX 200 camera with firewire and it doesn’t mount like it should when you hold the button on the camera so it mounts. The camera display also keep saying disconnect.
It works on any mac with the same camera ( driver or no driver) except the new iMacs.

Do you get the default color bar ?
Have you connected phantom power to you AJA analog audio?? if yes, it’s toast.
What format you have in final cut timeline?
Have you checked video playback / All frames??
Does SDI work?
Does S-video work?
