Have you installed the P2 driver?

    yes i did.

But the P2 driver is only nescessary if you use the p2 cards directly. ( for pcmcia or duelsystems)

I’m connecting the HVX 200 camera with firewire and it doesn’t mount like it should when you hold the button on the camera so it mounts. The camera display also keep saying disconnect.

It works on any mac with the same camera ( driver or no driver) except the new iMacs.

Not true — that’s where your mistake is. The P2 driver is necessary for any device that accesses P2 cards. So yes you need to install the driver for using an HVX connected via USB; you’d also install a driver to use the PCD20, or anything else.

Install the proper driver and your problems will disappear. 🙂

Also don’t forget the camera doesn’t just auto mount when you connect firewire. It needs to be in MCR mode as 1394 device first, and then you hold down the MCR button until it mounts.

    Exactly..

Again to make my point clear. I know i have to hold down the MCR button.

I work for an audio/video solution expert. I do this every day.

If i get a macbook straight out of the box. I connect the HVX200 thru firewire.

Hold the MCR button. Boom it mounts. I don’t have to install any P2 driver to make it mount.

I just tried it again to make sure. Macbook out of the box and it mounts!!

I’m not stupid 🙂 It doesn’t MOUNT on the new iMac. I can guarantee that to you guys.

It’s just the new iMac. I tried 3 different new iMacs.

Ok but did you load up the latest driver for the iMac? Also is Final Cut Studio installed as well?

Yes, the latest iMac update is installed.
    Also final cut studio.

But it mounts also on systems without final cut studio.
Even macbooks out of the box mount the NoNAME volume.

In the meanwhile , i have 2 new iMacs that do work.
Looks like the first series we received have this issue.
It’s not the firewire port, DV devices and audio interfaces work fine.
Also the HVX 200 in tape mode doesn’t work.

It seems to be a first series new iMac/HVX200 issue.
I still have 3 iMacs that don’t work with the HVX200 firewire on any way.

I have a new Imac and is happening the same to me.
It does show up in any other apple computer but the new Imac.
Do you guys know if the firestore fs 100 has the same problem?
    what about the 16Gb cards?

    Thank you

I have the same problem guys and have exhausted all of the same troubleshooting techniques as each of you. The Firewire in my camera reads disconnect, even though it’s plugged in properly to my MAC PRO…

    Suggestions?

Try plugging in VIA an external drive. Magic.
