With the first option you always will have to render that in FCP.
Motion 3 always exports a quicktime Animation file , if you don’t change export settings
Motion 4 always exports a ProRes 4444 file , if you don’t change the export settings.What are your current Sequence settings in FCP?
What are the properties (size, codec ) of your created Quicktime movie from Motion. -
If the footage is originally shot on XDCAM, they should’ve delivered you the original footage/disk/cards/data.
The person who thought: Oh lets convert XDCAM to H264 for Editing.
Because it’s nice and small and can be sended with dropbox, should look for another job.

Deinterlacing means your making the footage progressive.
I’m sure this plays good on BluRay but deinterlacing degrades quality.
So i don’t think this is a solution.
It’s a bug that needs fixing..Meanwhile try Motion instead of FCP.

Not just diskspace, with that format your storage needs to do at least 130 MB/s (megabytes)
So a RAID 0 SATA system is the least ou need to play 1 stream.

Firewire HDV1080i50 is your native HDV capture setting in FCP.
Easy setup is your friend.But it’s not a bad workflow in Apple Intermediate. Faster renders. No Long Gop.

I was working with a project in motion, which when exported to FCP and into the sequnece caused the ‘general error’ and ‘out of memory’ error signs.
Did you save the Motion project and imported it in FCP?
or
Did you export a quicktime movie from Motion?
or
Did you send a clip from FCP to Motion and then hit save?

Video playback should be HD from FCP.
In AJA control panel.
Primary HD
Secondary SD ( connect digibeta to this SDI output)Then downconvert.
It seems like you have a SD output setting on your Video playback settings.
They should be HD in this scenario. -
Search forum: H264 in FCP.
Do a basic course FCP. -
Other tapes work without problems? Try another tape.
Also check your iLink conversion on the deck. -
You can’t edit with H264 in FCP, and you shouldn’t edit with Photo Jpeg.
Convert the H264 footage to ProRes HD 25 and edit. Photo Jpeg can be edited but can’t do realtime effects.
So convert this to ProRes aswell.For the 29.97 footage , you have 3 options.
a.Conform to 25 ( plays slower, including audio) in Cinema Tools.
b.Convert to 25 with Compressor or Jes Deinterlacer
c. Just edit them in a 25 timeline, but FCP wil skip 5 frames every second ( not an option with moving images)
