Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy DVcam into FCP

    Hi,

I’m trying to get some old DVCam tapes through my Z7 into FCP Studio 3. It was working fine for a few tapes. Now they are not digitizing right. The frames skip in seconds but the sound is still in time. When I abort the capture it comes up saying ‘a TC break was encountered’, but I don’t believe it. Have checked tape and there are no breaks. Also tried other tapes and the same. Also tried the tapes that successfully digitized before and they too are skipping frames radically.

My FCP Video/Audio settings are all DV PAL Anamorphic. FireWire PAL. The same as the tapes.

My camera’s VCR settings I’ve tried on Auto and DV.

Any help to solve the riddle would be grateful.

Does the Deck Control – control the camera?
Was the Tape recorded in a different speed?

    Hi Chris,

Yes, the FCP ‘Log and Capture’ controls the camera.

The icon on the camera says the tape is DVCam which is what I recorded.

Other tapes work without problems? Try another tape.
Also check your iLink conversion on the deck.
