I captured HD footage from the sony z5 using FCP 7, easy set up HDV 1080i.
The properties of the clips are showing an Apple Int Codec (See attached image).
What would be the proper easy set up for capturing the native format for the z5?
Some posts I’ve read have said the AIC is pretty much garbage now. What are the thoughts on this and can it be altered prior to capturing?

    Thanks in advance!

Firewire HDV1080i50 is your native HDV capture setting in FCP.
    Easy setup is your friend.

But it’s not a bad workflow in Apple Intermediate. Faster renders. No Long Gop.

    2Qs…

    1. I thought the native was 1080i60, not 50???
    2. is there a way to change the Easy set prior to capture so the codec is not AIC? What is a better workflow, higher res recommended?

    Thanks again,

Both are native. I live in Europe , so here it’s 1080i50
    1080i60 HDV is native too.

Just choose Easy Setup. Choose HDV 1080i60
    New project, save project
    Log and capture.

This is native quality from the camera.
    Doesn’t get any better.
