Does Episode output to AVI? That would be great if it did. I looked on their sight and didn’t see that as an output optionl. It will make a DV stream but I still need a way to get it into an AVI wrapper. Also, what is the standard audio codec for an DV-AVI file.

[Bob Zelin] “ps – as for the smart ass comments – if I can’t make them, why should I even be alive ?”

I completely agree. Much of your essense would be missing. But I think you miscontrued my query (perhaps because so many people misconstrue your comments). I merely wanted to ask you a question about M100 without cluttering up the Kona forum.

Thanks Shane and Bob….I’m assuming Caldigit can do the HD uncompressed by striping 10 drives together? And Sonnet can’t?

PS, Bob, can we take the “ps enough with M100” offline? I’m curious.

Depends which version of the plug-in and AE you’re using. Mine worked in AE v 5.5 but stopped working in 6.5. I needed to buy Boris FX in order to get it working again. You can email Boris but they used to give out free plug ins as a marketing thing to get people to buy the full product.

I’ve had the same thought, Bob. They were all counting the years till retirement so I believe Belva and Rossamundo(?), Livingston Johns, were probably out of there. I did check the New York Times WTC list and didn’t find their names. The bureaucracy was pretty funny. Like moving a mountain to get anything done. As freelancers we were always thinking of ways to circumvent it but that kind of thinking was frowned upon by Belva and da boys.

Nice to know you’re still raising hell.

Now I’ve got one more tech question. I’ve got a little metal BB generator made by Burst with only a single output. If I want to run reference to both AJA and the deck will a splitter connector work for me? Or is the black burst sync signal cut in half. In which case I’d need to spring for a Horita with multiple outputs.

Oh you’re so right. I try to spend as little time as possible behind the machines.

I remember a Bob Zelin who did the Convergence installation–years ago–at the Video Department of the Port Authority in NY (World Trade Center). I was free lancing as an editor then. I now produce and direct (in San Francisco) so I’m much less adept at tech stuff.

Thanks for your tip. It will save my fingers.

[Floh] “Yes, you can export by-ref, self containing or QuickTime files from sw as you can from Media 100 i, and you can use them in BitVice (Compressor does not use the correct Colorspace for Media 100 i files, giving you results with not enough contrast).”

Thanks Flo. I’ll give it a try.
