Wow – that transform skew is really weird!
Uh, anyway, if it’s a locked down stationary shot you could skew in photoshop or even rotate the poster in 3D but the best way (and only way with tracking as far as I know) is Corner Pin.
Apply Effects > Distort > Corner pin, and you’ll get four pins on the corners which you can move around. Drag them to where you want them and – well that’s it.
If you want to combine it with tracking you can use Perspective Corner Pin as your track type. This gives you four points of data, which you combine with your four corner pins and marvel at the wonders of technology.

I can think of two ways that might happen – No comp open or you’re in a 1 frame comp. If it’s not either of those two some more information might be handy (version – has it worked properly before – what stuff is in the comp etc etc)

To get a good answer to this question (and if you want to understand computer based video) you’re going to need to look up the difference between container formats and codecs. There’s a fairly good starter article here but in summary:
AVI is a Container Format. It defines how the audio and video work together but it is not a codec.
*.avi’s can be encoded with H.264, xvid, divx, mpeg etc etc – yet still retain an .avi extension. To read such a file programs must be able to understand both the container and the codec or they won’t work.
Because of all this, no-one here can say what your file is encoded with, based on knowing the avi extension. AE or WMP might say somewhere what codec is used, if not there are many freeware tools out there that will help.

Just a quick note on video looping – make sure your key frames are positioned properly. Obviously the last key frame and the first key frame should be the same, but the last keyframe should be positioned one frame after the end of the comp.
This is obvious when you think of it, if your last frame has a value of 20 and the first frame has a value of twenty that’s two consecutive ’20’ frames. There’ll be a slight blip in the smoothness of the loop, which is always irritating. But if the last key frame is one frame further then the last frame of the comp, the last frame expects 20 to be the next frame – which it is making it seamless!

Nice link, I’ve been wondering how that add was made. I figured a lot more CGI really, and I’m scared by just how much time they put into organising it.

Not sure this will work ‘out the box’ as it were – but the script Ease and Wizz might be able to do what you want – if not the expressions it produces are probably helpful to look at.

Put the mask on a solid as use that as your track matte.

I believe the best way to do it is to use a black solid with the mask and applying the tracking data to that. Then you can use the solid layer as an alpha mask.

I’m -pretty- sure you can do that with quicktime, but I don’t own it so I have no way of checking. Good as place to look for the feature as any though.
