D3 was composite I use to operate a ACE 200 suite with VPR 3 1 inch and used the D3s as pre read decks for multi layer graphics passes with ADO. Lining up vision a chroma level via anologe VDA’s will be somthing I won’t miss. We had D5s the heads would only last 300 to 500 hours. The drop-outs had the uncanny ability to know when you were passed layer 10 or more of pre reads, I’m sure.

Thanks David,
We are changing the way we shoot as we speak, we have just been lucky so far and haven’t had the problem.
Real Smart Motion Blur has reduced the problem (which was rapid tracking shot across runners on starting blocks)
Next time we will shoot at a lower frame or ramp the shot.
Thanks again for your help..Paul H -
It’s back by popular demand, I gather from the Avid site it seems to effect only HP machines..Paul H

I’ve been running 3.5.4 for 3 weeks now. It seems ok but on shutdown you get AvidMirrorError which disappeared a few version ago but has returned.
I have had a few other problems but no worse than before. Nothing that kills it outright…Paul H -
Bernardo,
1.What version of 3.5 are you running if 3.5.4 and you have AMA enabled you can open the P2 card direct to bin by File/Link to AMA volume you need consolidate to DNXhd or work direct with P2 codec.
2.You,ll have needed to download and install P2 drivers from Panasonic Website.
3.If using the P2 Store to import and this is Mac format you will need to transfer the cards on a MAC. Or you can change the P2 Store by holding down the 3 buttons on the top of the store just not the start button but read the manual. This feels very dangerous if it is your master media. I’d find a MAC.
Also the P2 manager gives random drive letters or previous setting drive lettering if this conflicts with your machine drives media will not appear…Good Luck. -
The link doesn’t work in Australia either. But Boris Glow in Continuum will do it as well. This should be packaged with most Avids.
Also you can use animate to roll off the grads on the edge of frame. -

I’m haved used TMP before, but it strange if it looks ok in Avid.
If you look at your vision on the Colour Correction vectorscope and it is the right colour spacing, the problem must be TMC or the P2 codec.
A work around could be transcode/mixdown your sequence to DNxHD or an Avid codec export a QT ref and check again….Paul H -

July 20, 2009 at 12:45 am in reply to: DVC Pro HD in AVID express – QT Ref. export is washed out!I haven’t used DVC Pro but I do use P2, and it works fine. To me it sounds like a colour spacing issue. Somewhere in your path you may be doubling up 701/601 rasing your black levels and washing out your video. Try exporting with rgb colour spacing…Paul H

July 17, 2009 at 2:27 am in reply to: Relinking OMFI files to eternal drive in Xpress Pro HDGail,
I’m not quite sure what you’re doing. If all media exists as a backup on your 2TB drive inside your OMFMediaFiles structure it should come up.If you are archiving just your final sequences you can do this via consolidating these sequences to your 2TB drive with top and tails.
If you want everything across you could do this via media tool and consolidate all firewire drives to the new drive. You may lose renders.
Another way if you are talking all media, drag all contents of OMFIMediaFiles Folder ex Firewire drives minus media database mmob files to your 2TB drive (copy across for safety) Unmount firewire drives then rebuild your database on the 2TB, do this by deleting your mmob files and boot MC program this will rebuild the databases. If this works only then delete firewire media…Paul H

Nathan,
As long as you are progressive could export a image seq out of 60 and then import it into 24. This works…Harry
