  • importing XMF file from a P2 card

Hi, I have a Media Composer 3.5. Panasonic HVX is a great camera and it makes a XMF file. Well, the problem is that I had a P2 material in a mac hard drive. So, I got the Mac-PC drive that reeds the mac hard drives in a PC. I have been trying to import the material and I didn´t get it. I thought it was the Mac-PC problem but I have already transfered the files to the PC. So I saw in Media Composer’s help that in the file button it has the option import P2. But in my version or I don´t Know what, I don´t have this option of import. I just have the normal option ´import´. When I try the simple import and choose the XMF file avid strikes a message: `see the documentation for information about transferring media files´. Do I have to buy a plugin for it? What’s the problem?

    thanks,

    Bezoco

    Bernardo,
1.What version of 3.5 are you running if 3.5.4 and you have AMA enabled you can open the P2 card direct to bin by File/Link to AMA volume you need consolidate to DNXhd or work direct with P2 codec.
2.You,ll have needed to download and install P2 drivers from Panasonic Website.
3.If using the P2 Store to import and this is Mac format you will need to transfer the cards on a MAC. Or you can change the P2 Store by holding down the 3 buttons on the top of the store just not the start button but read the manual. This feels very dangerous if it is your master media. I’d find a MAC.
Also the P2 manager gives random drive letters or previous setting drive lettering if this conflicts with your machine drives media will not appear…Good Luck.
