    Hi All,
I’m working on an ad shot in 720P/25 on P2. There is a rapid horizontal pan in the ad and it giving me jitter problems.
I’ve tried Boris Motion Blur, Directional Blur, Illision Motion Blur all to no avail.
The best result I’ve had is using Avid 3D Warp and winding Directional Blur in.
Has anyone else had this problem and know any fixes.
    Thanks in advance..Paul H

It sounds like you’ve exceeded “safe pan speed” for your frame rate and focal length. I don’t believe there’s any “fixing” the problem as it’s the same artifacting that film shooters have had to shoot around (so to speak) for decades. Not sure which P2 camera you have, but if Barry Green’s “The HVX Book” came with it, there’s an excellent explanation for what you’re seeing and details on how to avoid/minimize it.

    Thanks David,
We are changing the way we shoot as we speak, we have just been lucky so far and haven’t had the problem.
Real Smart Motion Blur has reduced the problem (which was rapid tracking shot across runners on starting blocks)
Next time we will shoot at a lower frame or ramp the shot.
Thanks again for your help..Paul H
