Hello, I don’t really know if this is the right place to be asking this but what I am trying to learn is how to create what I would call a diffused look. It seems to be all over UK tv at the moment. The way I would describe it is that it has a sort of glowing, soft focus look. The whites look blown out and the tones diffused.
A good example of it is on the intro to “Cash in the Attic”. If you are in the UK I think you will see it here:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b007zcy1/Cash_in_the_Attic_Series_12_S...
    Its about 50 seconds in.
    Any ideas appreciated.

I can’t watch your link because I’m in the US. Can you take a screenshot of the show and post it here so non-UK folks can see what you mean?

Otherwise, check out Sapphire’s Film Effect or Soft Focus Effect (they’re pricey), or Boris Film Effect (comes with non-academic copies of Media Composer) and play with the settings. You can get these effects to soften the image, blow out the highlights, and give everything a soft, diffused look.

The link doesn’t work in Australia either. But Boris Glow in Continuum will do it as well. This should be packaged with most Avids.
Also you can use animate to roll off the grads on the edge of frame.

Here are some grabs from the show’s intro. I will have a look at Boris et al.

    Thanks.
