  • ya, the lastimage text file is in all of the folders….Im going nuts here, I have no idea what to do anymore…I cant get to the footage….this is the second time Ive edited stuff from the HVX200 and I really gotta say that it has been nothing but problems….and really isnt faster than using tape….unfortunatly, this performance is from a rather big pop star, and I have to go back now and say sorry…next time use a different camera, I cant ever recommend a cam like this….

Im so tired of all the marketing and different formats for HD media….its maddening….and most of it is just hyped way more than it should be….ever feel like your being had?

  • didnt realize you had to check 16:9 in your sequence setting before you put a clipp in it….or it will letterbox the clip even if you change the 16:9 optioin afterwards…makes sense….just didnt know…

  • Or…..how do I get it to stay 16:9 all the way through and output 16:9?

  • Ya, I am thinking its the drives now too…..Huge cant figure it out…..laas night after posting this….I tried to play just DV QT I had output….and it did the same thing…..SBBOD…..it just seems to be choking on the data at certain points and gets lost…..

  • Hey Kevin….I thought the article was interesting and informative….obviously it is geared towards FCP users….which I am one…..I just came off a movie working on Media COmposer of course….and I must say….I hate the interface compared to FCP….but wow….is it stable…..5 systems running off Unity…..rock solid for the most part….very complicated project…..tons of footage…..long tape captures….and no issues that kept us from working…..sure it crashes….but ti crashes and you restart and your working again….with FCP I find myself spending a lot of time trying to find workarounds….because of stability issues…bugs…ect….mainly at this point it seems to be some sort of throughput issue….it just cant deal with playing my timeline without getting the beachball…..Huge is ttrying to figure it out, to no avail….drive tests show that Im getting 250MB plus but it just ends up choking when playing any timeline for too long….differenet projects….Im temped to wipe everything…OS and start form scratch….but I just did that a while back….so im dont know….thks though for your input….

  • I dont get this statement…..I have been doing long form on Avid for years…..it rocks….it is solid and stable….how can you say this? I must respectfully disagree…..if FCP cant handle it that is one thing….but you shouldnt clump all NLE’s together….

I have the same issues…Ive been trying to cut multicam on this thing and its a dog…..locks up every hour or so….spinning beach balll….have to force quit…..Ive gotten that error when I try to relaunch FCP without restarting the computer…so now I just restart all the time…..very annoying and hard to work with…..I have FCP 5.0.4 as well as Atto UL4D….Aja SD card….all the latest drivers ect ect…nobody seems to be able to fix it, I wonder if its something with 5.0.4….Im tempted to upgrade but am scared as i too am right in the middle of projects…honestly it seems to be a data throughput issue the way it locks up…like it just cant handle it…Im only doing 4 streams of video….am using Huge 2.5 TB SCSI array….not even half full

  • Ya, the Firestore solution is crap, it has ruined this footage which is really too bad….it is a big band….great footage…..it even glitched on the audio straight from the board…terrible….

Im not sure I understand what you mean by the in points…..you mean eyeball something in the footage and create an in point using FCP then pick use in points for multiclip function?….is so that would work great, however there are glitches thr0ough the footage…so it constantly goes out of sync all over the place….

Interesting…..I am having a similar problem…..I cant even export a certain section….once I delete that section all is fine……what I would to as a quick way to find what frames are giving you the issues….use compressor to export, it will tell you the frames as it exports and if it crashes, look at what frame it crashes on….then go into FCP and switch your timeline from TC to Frames….this will give you an idea of where you can start deleting footage from your timeline…..if that erases the issue…you will then have to recapture that footage….
