Hi Tim, Though I can’t absolutely guarantee it forever, I’d say no LTO on this project. And even if it should change, I expect to work with clients who have small collections and will never employ LTO. So I’d still be seeking an answer for an no-LTO scenario.

I guess as a follow-on I’d ask why a Viewer (where one can set and in & out) is not one of the 4 default windows in the AME interface?

btw Joe the reason I’m not running the latest version of AME is because I want to be able to work with Qt reference files and the the latest versions give error msgs with these files, however v7 works with them

For the tests I’m doing I can compress from within Premiere CC and get the familiar Viewer with ability to set in/outs within its Export window… I just don’t how to access/display this same Viewer window within AME

That is exactly my dilemma, I don’t see or seem to have that Viewer window in AME 7. Looking at this Overview page from Adobe I don’t see it either (in Premiere yes but my task does not involve Premiere CC)

I’m pretty sure now that the ProRes setting import worked just fine with AME 7. I now believe I ran into the problems with AME 8 aka AME CC 2014

Another distinction between the two version is that AME CC 2014 would not work* with Qt Reference files from an (older) Avid whereas AME 7 did.

AME CC 2014 saids the Qt Reference files were corrupt

Thanks Craig, got it. Where then, in what software app, would I set these playback specs (4×3 & deinterlace) with an eye towards them respected aka being adhered to in a modern player? I don’t see anywhere to do that in Qt 10. Again these are real-time, on-the-fly playback parameters. (not changes made in a derivative copy)

I should add that the mxf came from an older Avid, an SD video file captured at 2:1
