I should add that part of the reason I’m focused on premier exports is because I would like to get the custom fields such as description, log note, etc. that editors create about clips. So even though I’m still interested in the more generic metadata about the source files, I really like to have the two above buckets in one package.

p.s. I did not get to Exiftool but for the non-Premiere clip data, it seems there is a python script that does exactly what I want using MediaInfo

    Thanks Bouke,

I meant to do it last week but I’m going to call Adobe first thing tomorrow just to confirm there is no simple way to simply output selected columns & output as a tab delineated file. If this is not possible without exporting actual media, which is my understanding from your post, then yes I would love a utility that does this. And wondering what it would cost and when I could get my hands on it?

    Thanks!

p.s. I’ve never used Exif tool but will try it tonight.

Don’t think it’s good for camera directories but I want to test Mediainfo in batch mode which I think requires some command line work

  • Thanks Tim, good call but I’m asking on behalf of an institution that might not have the budget or computer chop’s to manage tape

    Thanks Bouke,

My goal is to get the clips text columns (default & custom) into Excel. As one fellow Avid person put it “In the Avid you simply Output your Bin to a Tab Delimited File and you’re off to the races.” This is what I’m trying to do, but batch list export only seems to result in a few columns.

    Thanks Glenn,

I’m away from the folder now but I’m very confident there are video OMF files there. I guess at the center of this conundrum is that media tool is showing there are (video) clips there, but when you go to click on one you get immediate offline message in the play window. If the media was truly off-line those clips should not be listed in the media tool. When I get in front of the system I’ll be able to get back to you with more details.

    Thanks,

    Paul

I should have added that I am reviewing with in a new SD project. And mxf media plays fine in Media Tool, but even though I see the problem omf clips in Media Tool as clips, you play them and get the Media Offline slide.

I think the media was created circa 2001 and played nice in the same timeline with mxf media until the system I bought circa 2007 (g5 & Avid Mojo) broke down a year ago.

July 13, 2017 at 3:55 pm in reply to: play monitor behavior in Premiere 2017?

the regular play button as well as the space bar. If the playhead is parked before the In mark, it jumps to play from the IN (bad) However if the playhead is parked between the In & Out – it will play from that point on (correctly). strange

  • Strangely the Thunder SATA Go successfully mounted all five drive in the raid but the Thunder Dock only mounts the last of the 5 (just like the usb3 adaptor). I wrote AKiTiO and they said the Go uses a different chip set. I really would like to make the Thunder Dock work to drive the 2nd monitor, we’ll see.

  • Wow Shane, this seem great, thank you!

There seems to be a Akitio Thunder2 Dock, I’m in transit and will study but it would appear the original does everything I need and would cost less, thoughts anyone?

    Best,
