  • Where does AME store these presets? I just repeated the install and imported from within AME, for a moment the presents seemed to come in correctly (only a handful of setting for each folder like 1080p etc) but in the blink of an eye the settings repeated to have about 20 duplicates?

  • Tried the AAF import into Premiere. The AAF came in as a file & seq but without media. When I tried to link to the mxf, Premiere (the AAF) knew what file to ask for but when I located it got this msg

    “Importer reported a generic error”

This is with Premiere CC (OS 10.8.5)

  • Thanks so much John, you got my mental wheels turing and I’ll seat doing some R&D

  • Hey Ryan,

I’m 99% sure ProRes presets did not come with Premiere / Media Encoder CC for Mac. Thats’ based on my recollection of looking for them on one of my Premiere systems, not finding them, and then seeking the download-able set. Later checking my 2nd system and nope there are not there. Because they do not seem to be bundled, Adobe offers them as a downloadable “extra” for v7 called AME-CC-ProRes-presets.zip

In all seriousness your theory is a good one and might have been the case. Also too I only did the install once and got close to 20 dupes so something more is going on.

If I don’t get any suggestions here I’ll try the install on my 2nd system and do before and after screen-grabs as a reality check.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Thanks Ryan, I read you loud and clear. The mxf files were generated (captured) by Avid’s Media Composer. I do have the Avid Qt codec installed but that (to my knowledge) just means I can work with Qt’s that employ the Avid (native) codec for 2:1, 3:1 etc

I understand what you and Bill are saying but seek actionable advice or workflow on how to work with Avid’s media files in other programs, assuming that is do-able

    Thanks

    Paul

    Bill says
“Avid’s format is OP1. To be able to use OP1, it has to be re-wrapped as OP1a, which interleaves the audio files with the video to produce a single file.”

  • Thanks Bill, the only version of this I could find (got it from their web site) was “Calibrated{Q} XD – Snow Leopard” probably should not expect it to work on a Mac running 10.8.5 and it didn’t. Not in Premiere CC or Quicktime Player (trying to play a video mxf file)

  • Sounds good Paul, thanks!

  • Thanks Al, glad to hear I’m not alone. I can’t assign blame but I’ve never (in 25 years of NLE) work encountered anything like it. Using two different Macs running 2 different OS 10.7.4 and 10.8.5) hit the same wall. Yes these are not the latest OS’s and I’m not running the fastest CPU’s but this is a serious impasse, I have to fine a solution.

    Thanks James!

  • Indeed, think I got it now. Thanks!
