    Hi
If you use GarageBand music loops, or the supplied sound effect loops that come with Soundtrack Pro, you can simulate this with GB/STP by exporting an end audio sequence several times at slower and slower tempo settings then editing these together in short bits, with a good helping of reverb for the final grind to a halt.

    Have fun! 🙂

    Hi
Interestingly, the Swiftdata G5 internal hard drive mount, which is similar to the G5 Jive, has this warning on its Tech Specs web page:
    Do not Use Seagate drives…

    Hi
Keyframe Control of a Codec allows parameter changes to:
    i) how many frames between each keyframe, and, depending on the particular codec compression software,
ii) how the data-compression in the keyframe relates to the compressed data allocated to each inter-frame.

MJPEG A and B don’t have any keyframe control because, as I said, every frame is a keyframe.

    Hi
Forgot to add trash the project’s render files as well.

    Hi
One or more of the movie capture clips or still images has been corrupted.
Either make all the media assets unavailable to the project (take them all offline) then see if you can open the project, copy ALL the project’s ingredients, paste into a new blank project, then make the clips available and reconnect one file at a time until you find the dodgy one.
Or with FCP not running, open each movie clip/still image in QuickTime Player/image viewer, looking for a clip that doesn’t open.
Its probably worth checking the still images first,
    Good luck!

  • [David DuBois] “Why is setting up a TC field difficult”
Because FM Pro doesn’t have a simple boolean calculation scripting language – if timecode = x then y frame numbers are dropped, if not then frame count increments normally, in 30s…
Instead FM Pro requires you to set up nested mini relational-databases to deal with each seperate if-then-else category.

    Hi
When it came out I reviewed Aboretum’s Montage, which became Hyper-Engine AV.
    SpeedEDIT has many similarities.
Both could be great fun for simple whiz/fizz music video editing from a source tape or two.
Any sort of larger scale media management, or multi-layer sound track laying sound fraught….

    Quote from the SpeedEDIT documentation:
“The time-line is far too literal for something claiming to be non-linear, and this is its biggest
weakness (and its fatal flaw). Every clip has a space in time, taking up space in the time-line
    proportional to its length…

Storyboard, on the other hand, is conceptual and fully non-linear, which is its biggest strength.
Changing one edit point means changing one edit point, with no need to worry about neighboring
clips, or destination in / out points. As an editor, all you typically want is for one clip to play, and
then the next, and then the one after that; usually it doesn’t matter when it happens, it just needs
    to happen in sequence…

Storyboard can reach limitations or be difficult to use with complex situations that call for A/B
edits, split audio, or compositing. And under these circumstances, SpeedEDIT

January 31, 2007 at 2:28 pm in reply to: Final Cut Extreme/v.6 G5 friendly?

    Hi
Motion v1 at a stroke rendered ALL pre-G5 graphics cards obsolete.
Whilst the next versions of FCPro/FCExpress will no doubt be PPC compatible, there is no doubt that an advance such as Final Cut Extreme would be COULD similarly render earlier hardware beneath its minimum specifications for installation.

  • Hi
Whilst FileMaker Pro is relative easy to use (for a mere video editor, not a database guru) to set up quite a sophisticated information database, setting it up any sort of timecode calculation fields is far from trivial.
Even for just straightforward PAL NDF logging – before you start complicating matters with DF/NDF, and colon/semi-colon display differences….
