Are you asking about “automated slideshow” type software for Vegas where all the events in a project as still images ? .. Or something different?
-
Yep George. My VP13 is still running Build 453. Still using it on occasion.
-
ProType Titler will do this … I’ve used it extensively with VP13 .. It comes with VP13. Never had any problems with it crashing.

Ok. When everything is in it’s original positions, do a “save as”. You can then use this saved version to get back to your original position.
By the way, your scheme with Edit Details is ingenious. I would have never thought of that.

In VP16 Build 361, you can select the first gap in your top video track (you didn’t mention audio tracks), right click and choose “close gaps” .. This will close all the gaps for that video track.
I generally I use two instances of Vegas to cut material like you describe. One instance has a timeline with all the takes of all the shots in the scene I am cutting. I can play the scenes, choose a take, and select the parts I want to use very precisely. The second instance of Vegas is my assembly. I paste or copy the selected scenes in the order I wish. This way I see how things are working as I go, building the assembly in the order I wish.
Example, if there is an establishing shot of a car driving up to house, then we cut to a close shot as the driver gets out. I can assemble this and see how the cut is working. I don’t have to wait and close up the gaps later.
But I’m assuming things here. I just don’t like the idea of a timeline with two tracks where the assembly is really one track.

>> Still Motion fast app
What is this? Is this a separate app or something to do the Vegas?

>> I also noted that clicking on certain clips highlights an array of other clips both from the same track and alternative tracks.
Have you tried to Ungroup? ( press U for ungroup)

Tried the same thing in VP13 .. after 5 min, I found an autosave file in the right place .. C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\13.0 .. it was named: 000011cc.autosave.veg …
But cannnot duplicate in VP15. My general preferences have “enable autosave” checked.
-
Hmmmmmmmmm … I tired to duplicate that problem .. and I did. I started a new project in VP15 .. saved the project .. made some edits .. saved the project again … waited 5 min .. Then I tried to find the Autosave file in C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\15.0 … I did not find it.
Strange. You have used something like Quantum entanglement to knock out my autosave. It always worked before. What ever version and when ever I’ve needed the autosave file (after a crash generally) the file has always been there .. Does autosave only work during a crash?
I looked in my VP13 folder and there was only one autosave files there named: 00000000.restored.veg ..
Hmmmm … something is up here. Anyone else understand what goes on?
