    ken,

    1)
only few professional formats allow you to export video without recompression and canon vixia falls outside of the group. it gives you – i suppose avchd? it is not pro standard for the input and your frames will be recompressed. as an input you would need….
hit help in vegas and type ‘rendering projects’ – you will have your answer for that.

    2)
don’t ever listen to that person in the future.
i assume that now for any video you have one stereo audio from zoom and one stereo audio from vixia. if you pan them and mix in the final file you end up with two mono sound streams.
if you can’t decide now which audio to choose, make a temporal choice and render your files this way. in the next step render only alternate audio takes with the same names your just rendered videos have. this way you can easily match them together in the future. you probably have them stacked above or below the video so you have your regions marked. just make sure all your alternates are on a single track, make that track solo and render your regions to wavs. it will be just another batch rendering pass for the alternate audio.

hope that helps and maybe some other fellow has any better workflow to do that – i will be pleased to learn sth new:)

    regards
    paul

  • very easy. for dv tapes hit ‘capture’ and… capture. for dvds just copy vobs to your hdd and drag them to the timeline and that’s it. 🙂

it is a game for experts and not worth of the result. do you really work so much with titles? is it really so uncomfortable? … well maybe a bit but hacking the system and a possibility of further problems in result is not worth of all that.

i only mentioned a possibility but i don’t recommend it either.

if you use photoshop, you can use it very efficiently for your titles in fuuuuuullllscreeeen 🙂

it is possible but you would have to hack sv, recompile exe or some of dlls, exchange bitmaps probably…

June 7, 2012 at 8:50 am in reply to: Vegas 11 Pro – Is this a bug in the trimmer?

steve, this is not the thing you are thinking of, it is an error, bug or whatever you call it, i had it too. i don’t remember the exact solution, but you have to try different steps until one of them works.
you probably have trimmer in separate window, bring it back to the docking area, video should come back, close SV, open in again take the trimmer out of the docking area, hit play with the trimmer… you have to try those kind of actions, in different combinations.
sorry, i cannot be more precise but as i say: i had exactly the same problem and i tried different combination of what i mentioned here and it finally helped. good luck.

accept it. nothing more you can do. upscaling is nothing but adding pixels. someone has just asked that a moment ago. you can’t expect anything, any plugin would magically reveal pixels which are not present on original footage. upscaled from sd to hd has more “assumed” interpolated information than original information. no wonder it is blurry. it will be. it should be.

true. that is why mpg are usually final files. but if i leave for myself a master file rendered with mpeg2 / hd / 50 Mbpsor even 25, and i cut out takes from it for another project, believe me – no one will know that this is the second generation…

when you up-scale or down-scale you add/remove pixels using algorithms. up-scaling you are adding data which was not present in the original. algorithm doesn’t know that this was the face and what it should look like. All are just pixels. This is why up/down-scaled image or video may still look acceptable but it is physically impossible it could contain more details or look better than original. what was not present in the original will not magically reveal in the modified video unless you paint on it. this is why you should always aim your target. if you plan to make a dvd only – what is the use of shooting full hd?

at least one person:) thanx mikhail. i’ll run some tests when i have time. thanx!!!

  • i have something a bit similar. i ve needed a small wmv preview file with lower bitrate and so i rendered.

two tracks: video and lower third above it. when i render wmv in good rendering mode i can see through the lower third although i know it is not transparent and compositing is source alpha. when i render it in best it is ok. i know that graphics are rendered differently in best mode but it is not an excuse to make things transparent when they are not.

sony vegas goes worse and worse. i ve got enough of it. with each version it does sth that i don’t expect it to do. i am not a hype-proffesional but i worked with editing a bit and generally speaking i know what ia m doing. sony vegas step by step keeps desapointing me.
