    hi there,
not 100% true. vegas 12 and 13 are fully interchangable 🙂

i am pretty much aware how it is called and what the assumptions of the process are. i am asking about precisely described activity during rendering. i hoped to catch an attention from a person who possibly contacted with programmers or vegas crew and knows details how the process operates.
maybe i compiled too difficult post to comprehend. that is my sin, and i should talk less but in simpler manner. so the simple question is:
during smart rendering are really all unedited frames not recompressed and in practise just copied to the output file? because not all unedited frames are passed through with “no recompression required” in preview window.

OMG, man! if you have neither nothing interesting to say nor comprehend the question, please do not give ‘answers’ that bring absolute nothing to the topic. thank you.

    “An already filmed clean plate”.

golden rule for any filmmaker, whenever you plan to use vfx, always record a clean plate for your shot. but for this task i assumed i only have a raw recorded file and there is no option to re-record. in fact if you planned to key out original sky, you could give there any stock sky available as a clean plate that would correspond with the lighting conditions on the ground

2- Several addition plugs that requires the User to obtain the skills to implement these tasks.

naturally you could mask out the kite frame by frame with your hands without mocha or any other plugin, it is possible, if you have time and patience 🙂

due to the quality of the video it is not easy to say, but it looks for me like the sky is on the move from the right to the left and it pauses when first replication occur. if so is true then i am positive that there was a clean plate made for the sky and then sky was keyed out either by keying or by mocha roto. quite a lot of work but of course it is possible to make it within sony vegas plus mocha or some bcc key plugs.

don’t want to spend too much time on thinking about that but for the sky part (as i can see there is something going on on the ground as well).
compositing tracks will not do the trick here because clouds are moving so i guess many strange things would occur on the sky using compositing.
so for the sky i propose different aproach:
    1
combine parts of the video to make a clean plate of the sky. this would be your bottom track – empty sky
    2
key out the sky from a copy of yr video
    3
now when you only have a kite on alpha you can easily pile tracks and freeze or move all kites any way you desire
    4
    voila 🙂

    hi graham,
inter… what? i can hardly remember what interlacing is, that era is over for me. it has nothing to do with interlacing for sure. but thank you.
