When I add a new movie clip to the trimmer or drag a clip over from the media library the video part disappears and only the audio waveform appears. If I move the window back to the dock the video pops back.

Am I being stupid or is this a bug?

    Here’s a video to illustrate.

No Rik, its not a bug. Why dont you go in preferences and set it
so that when you double click on a clip, it automatically opens
in the trimmer, instead of dragging it as you are doing.

steve, this is not the thing you are thinking of, it is an error, bug or whatever you call it, i had it too. i don’t remember the exact solution, but you have to try different steps until one of them works.
you probably have trimmer in separate window, bring it back to the docking area, video should come back, close SV, open in again take the trimmer out of the docking area, hit play with the trimmer… you have to try those kind of actions, in different combinations.
sorry, i cannot be more precise but as i say: i had exactly the same problem and i tried different combination of what i mentioned here and it finally helped. good luck.

    Thanks for the replies.

I use the trimmer on my second monitor and have always done so, its easier to be precise there but this is a pain and looks to be a bug – dont know how you can say it isnt one LOL.

    Good old Vegas.

Ok, if its a bug, the proper thing to do is to submit a report to
SCS and let them be aware of this irregular issue.
I’ve submitted one for them to take a look at that particular
issue you described, i suggest you do the same.
